Trade Route Mango Weizen is a golden ale with some tiny particles in it. It has a thin white head that vanishes in a few seconds. It has a fruity wheat and mango aroma with a note of peach. It's light bodied and watery. The mouth feels chalky and scratchy the instant this beer enters it. It tastes very sour. Is this on purpose or did something happen to this bottle? Is this supposed to be a Berliner Weisse? What the hell? I can taste the mango but the sourness is overwhelming. Yuck. Down the drain it goes.

Bottle from Fred Meyer. cloudy golden pour ith small white head.Mango is very unsubstantial, almost distracting from the weizen. Nice body, but aroma and taste lacking.

Poured from a 22oz bomber...

Look is pale red with fair effervescence.

Smell is earthy with notes of the fruit but not overpowering the hops.

Taste is much the same as the smell. Similar to Pyramid's Apricot but with the mango.

Mouth feel is great. Feels like a good summer ale light without being airy and very sessionable.

I think it's very drinkable. Not the most artsy but still very good.

another beer from these guys that i think is better than it gets credit for. sure it might not be a big creamy banana yeast driven classic german hefeweizen, but its a pretty cool reinterpretation of it, with absolutely no apparent flaws, and a nice spike of sweet juicy mango to make it interesting. the purists can hate, but this really isnt bad at all. pale hazy yellow, looks the part, maybe not the most prominent head on it, but a little bit of airy white fluff hangs around. aroma and flavor of concentrated mango added to this post fermentation, some sort of extract or syrup or puree, relatively authentic to the real fruit, but sweet and not at all dried out by this somewhat classic yeast strain. its juicy and you definitely taste the fruit before the beer, but i think it works for whatever reason. the wheat works to smooth it out in the middle, and with the esters in the yeast showing banana and even apple by the finish, it ends up being balanced and pleasing, without too much residual sugar. i found this quite refreshing actually, especially with the high carbonation. these guys might not be the best brewery in the country, but they deserve more credit for some more than decent beers they come out with...

This review is from notes obtained while camping. I poured the beer into a clear plastic cup from a 22 ounce bomber. Despite the plastic, the head has good retention. The beer is a ruby red-amber color.

I detect a weird vegetal note in the aroma. The mango is not easily discernible at first- it does become more apparent as the beer warms, but is quite subtle. The aftertaste is pretty clean.

This offering is pretty bland, except for the touch of mango, and is not very distinctive. I'm not getting much of a spicy or funky note that I expect from a wheat beer.

I think Northwest Brewing is having a hard time getting a consistent brew out of this formula, as the reviews are all over the place. My particular sample seemed like just a very plain Heifenweizen. The mango was barely detectable in the nose and completely absent in the taste. The only sign it was even in there was the cloudy glass. Very disappointing, at least for this batch...not that I will try again unless someone gifts it to me.
