A dark malty mild. Ideal sustenance when there is physical work to be done. Harveys awards for Milds date back over half a century and this style of beer enjoys a long heritage at the brewery.

Give this crap a miss. sulfuric eggy nose, really grainy malts and very thin, could have been the most boring beer of the day. Hard to write too much about this one, other than it bored the hell out of me, no good, just way too thin (Cask- ChelmsfordBF 03)...

Had on cask. Opaque dark brown with light edges with a oatmeal colored head. Roasty malt, faint dark fruit and yeast in nose, very weak. Again roasty malt, light cocoa, a touch of date and maybe other dark fruit, faint dark yeast, again just very dull, the style is meant to be mild but artful, this flavor complexion only got the first half down. The feel is mild and light, malt driven, warm and roasty.

500 ml bottle, as Harvey's Dark Mild, from Seven Cellars. ABV is 2.8%. Mahogany colour, moderate to small off-white to beige head. Malty aroma, notes of brown bread, caramel and nuts. Slightly sweet flavour with the same elements as the aroma, hints of blackberries and blackcurrants, minimal hops.

Direct from the cask. Banbury Beer Fest' 2017. Labelled as "Dark Mild".
Dark brown/ruby. Thin head.
Sweet toasted malt and nut with light caramel.
The taste reflects the aroma. Some nutty sweetness.
Rather thin but quite refreshing.
Bottle at 2.8% ABV scores the same.

A: Dark ruby with a clingy off-white head. Certainly a healthy pint.
T: A touch of toasty nuttiness but has that familiar corn snacks flavour I associate with lesser quality brews like John Smiths and Tetleys. Quite a bit of sulphur as well, which doesn't work in its favour. Almost no fruit apart from some pleasant pears, or possibly rhubarb crumble in the finish. Overall, not a very nice beer and very one dimensional. A class above Sammy Smith's Dark Mild though.

On cask, this beer is very good. A lovely dark brown color in the light, swirling thin head on top. While waiting for it to settle, it has a good nose, full of roasted malt. The taste is a little better than Brain's Dark, but that might just be that Sussex is closer to London than Wales. Another wonderful British beer.

The lowest abv of the Harveys lineup and the darker counterpart to the seasonal Knots of May. My first mild on cask as well... bear with me. Imperial pint glass, hand pumped.
Dark body, copper woody brown, no head, no lace.
Roasted malt, herbal notes (might be a Harveys thing..), more grassy hops! I should have done a side by side with these as they all seem to have the same hop character, rather odd.
A bit of fruit in the palate, more of the same hop character (gets a bit boring!), medium body, appropriate carbonation. Herbs in the finish are a bit tired as well. Mediocre.

This dark copper colored beer had a thin tan head, wispy yet pattrened rings of lace coated the glass. Wonderful hop aroma with some roast. I didn't care too much for the taste of this beer. Sharp licorice like notes were prominent and a bit too much.mouthfeel was substantial yet not filling. Did not inspire me to have another, in fact I regret heavily not trying one of the many other Harvey's beers on cask that day at The Royal Oak in London. Not bad just a bit of letdown and still wonder if it might have been a tad off.
