The beer pours an impenetrable dark brown with a two-finger khaki head. The retention is great with globby lacing holding onto the inside of my glass.

The smell is fruity with figs, fuming alcohol and brown sugar.

The beer tastes soft with low carbonation. Its substantial body offers a slight malty sweetness with coffee and dark bready notes. Soon to follow is the acidity, a highly toasted bite tasting a bit like burnt toast. Some faint dark fruits arrive upon breathing out that increase slightly as the tongue is desensitized to the burnt/acidic taste. The aftertaste is faint carbon.

I didn't really think this beer would be anything special, and it really isn't. But they executed the style well and offered a truly decent porter with my only complaint being the possible overuse of black malt.
