You can't not go to Shangy's. Even accidentally, you'll end up there. There's ridiculously easy access from all highways, and all roads for that matter, as yes, every single road on the Eastern seaboard leads to Shangy's. Directly, and there are no lights. Don't get no easier than that...
We rolled in on the heels of that Lehigh Valley stint in Easton, PA. It's a large stand alone structure that commands respect. It's massive and intimidating. I was a little a-scared.
Mountains of beer inside. It's an odd sight, even in PA where case law brings you to expect pallets and piles of cases of 12 and 24. Well organized and the selection is exceptional. Where'd they get a case of Sam Adams Triple Bock this late in the game? Sadly, no Gumball Head to be had but there were other 3 Floyds to be found. And all the Bells a boy could ring (so why is it that I like the ones that go for a dozen or two bucks more than the rest of the line?) They're sitting on cases of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale '96 in the back, and god only knows what else. I knew better but asked anyway for a case of Rodenbach, and "The son" replied, "In your dreams" without having to think about it. He knows his beer.
They've got a great glassware... "display" might not be a strong enough word here, maybe "section" is better. I scored me a couple of great OerBier glasses of Schoolteacher likeness. Good damn beer store!!!

Big store. Lots of selection. Prices reasonable. BUT DO NOT BUY ANYTHING ON SALE. They are locally just as famous for selling outdated stanky beer as they are for their selection and low prices. They also hate when you try to return anything. Additionally the staff, while helpful, are not well versed in their products.

Was a fan of this place. Called for almost a month looking for founders harvest ale. Was always polite on the phone. Eventually, a guy took my name and said he would hold me a case. Just called today. Said they had gotten it in and all sold out. Nothing for me. I knew it was too good to be true. Would have been better if he hadn't offered in the first place. So now 61 BrewThru it is.

Best beer store in the Lehigh Valley area. Great selection of craft beer from the US and all over the world. The staff is very knowledgeable about beer and are always willing to find something for you if you don't feel like wandering around aimlessly in search of a certain brew. They have both bottles and kegs available and they are both retail and wholesale. Highly Recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

I have mixed feelings about Shangy's. I've had both: my share of good times and bad.

The positives:

The is a huge selection of beer from around the world
Quite a few employees working if you need help
Reasonable prices.

The negatives:

Run like a business...doesn't have that warm, welcome feeling I like when I go to other distributors
Ownership can be rude at times
Lot of beer also means lot of out dated beer. Watch for the skunked beer.
Tough to find many of the smaller, local craft brews

Overall I have stopped going to Shangy's and have enjoyed shopping for my beer elsewhere.
