A small neighborhood restaurant/bistro on the near west side of Madison with a incredible selection of beers, particularly Belgians. Located in a narrow store front on Monroe Street and decorated in plenty of wood and earth tones, it exudes "great neighborhood hangout".
Roughly a dozen brews on tap with a heavy emphasis on Belgians and Belgian style beers. Taps rotate every month with a few classic stalwarts like St. Bernardus and Triple Karmeliet. The bottle list is particularly amazing; page upon page of simply wonderful beers. Tuesday is also bottle night, so $2 off all bottles. As other reviewers have mentioned, all beers are served in the correct glassware which to me is another great reason to try the offerings some different breweries.
Brasserie V's food is also great. A wonderful selection of sandwiches, salads, entrees with a Belgian/Northern France feel. As you might expect, great frites.
Service has always been quick, efficient and knowledgeable about both the beer list and food.
Prices are pretty fair considering the quality of beer and food but definitely not the kind of place you go to throw back five beers (the high ABV probably helps that too).
My only complaint is that isn't closer to my house...

Had meal on business trip on 5/7. I was considering a few different beers to accompany with my dinner and mentioned to bartender. He made a selection and explained reason for decision. I think he was right on with recommendation. ... Bartender was awesome making recommendations to others at bar based on conversations with other patrons. ... Saw some bottled imports I haven't seen before. ... Definitely would return if in Madison.

This place is great. The beer is very good, of course. It's a nice mix of Belgians, Wisconsin beers, and beers from the Midwest, Oregon, Colorado, etc. Even Tennessee.
The food was as good as the beer, which often is not the case. The cheese plate selections were exceptional. The service was friendly and fairly efficient.
The vibe is friendly restaurant. It's not a raucous party bar. You can actually talk to your companion ... just think of that!!

Visited Great Taste Eve 2015. Prennial tap takeover, but I was solo and able to find a seat at the bar. Besides the fantastic Perennial list the overall selection was incredible, as was the food. Service at the bar was spot on. I hope to be able to go back here everytime I visit Madison. I made it to a lot of places GT Eve and this place stood out as the best.

along with the wine and hop shop, Monroe St is now a beer incubator destination!

This place is kinda small. It can certainly get crowded. Some bright colors and closely confined tables. Good service that knows their beer. Great list, too. Lots of local taps. The food is really good.
