I was at Right Brain on Friday and was lucky enough to have this beer on tap.

Appearance - Very dark color, looked how a stout should look. It didn't have too much of a head, but the head that was there sort of looked like it had a little green hue to me. Maybe that's because I already had a few beers is me though.

Smell - It smelled like mint chocolate chip ice cream!

Taste - Just like it smelled. Think mint chocolate chip ice cream or thin mint girl scout cookies.

Mouthfeel - The carbonation was spot on. The beer tasted sort of thick if I remember right.

Overall - Think mint chocolate chip or girl scout thin mint cookies beer. I enjoyed this a lot!

Pours a dark, dark brown, might as well call this one black - the tan top on this one looks like it'll stick around for a while, but fades surprisingly quick. The aroma is pretty much unlike anything I've sniffed to date; minty and loaded with a menthol-like aroma, followed up by hefty amounts of cocoa and bittersweet chocolates. I'm wondering if they were going for the "Thin Mint" girl scout cookie flavor/aroma here. It's close, but the mint characteristic is a little more medicinal and strong than sweet and tingly like it should be. Mild roast and coffee on the tail end of the nose as well.

The taste is full on with that mint - I have to say the mint comes off a little bit better on the palate than it does in the aroma. Much to my surprise, coffee is a little bit more noticeable on the palate than the chocolate. The cocoa is there, but it really doesn't show up much until the aftertaste. The aftertaste is loaded with a deep, dark cocoa, nearly bittersweet, along with that lasting minty flavor that carries from start to finish. Body is surprisingly light, this feels stronger than 6% ABV. Low-medium carbonation and a lightly silky mouth feel.

Not bad, but nothing excellent either. Different - I'll give it that. I think the mint flavors could've been a little better, they seemed a little awkward and contrived at times. Overall, pretty tasty, but I probably wouldn't seek this one out again.

Black in color and impenetrable to light. There's a half inch of very creamy tightly knit brown head. The aroma is a well balanced blend of mint and dark malt. I'm tasting a fairly well balanced blend of dark malt and mint. I think a bit of chocolate might have helped this beer. The mouthfeel is lightly creamy, but the mint creates a very nice cooling sensation.

L: Bright dark brown under a clingy 1” light tan foam collar. S: Mint and roast, traces of coffee and chocolate. T: Minty chocolate coffee with a lingering minty aftertaste. No harsh roast or burnt flavors. F: Medium body and carbonation. O: Like drinking a bitter dark chocolate mint.

Bottling date of 10/03/17

Appearance - Pours black with a hint of cola brown where light can penetrate. Tan, near finger width head shows fair retention before dying to a thin, broken layer of suds. Small spots make up the lacing.

Smell - Roast and rich chocolate with underlying mint.

Taste - Follows the nose. A triad of strong flavors, hitting on roast and chocolate upfront before the mint develps mid-taste and ties it all together in the finish. Mostly minty aftertaste but hints of roast and chocolate can still be found.

Mouthfeel - Mediumto-full- in body with fair, bitey carbonation. A bit of a cola-like texture with a dry, slightly sticky finish.

Overall - Good stout, but something feels off. Maybe a lack of hops adding some counterbalance. It's more or less a dessert beer, though, and it hits the mark that it was going for, so props.

I tried this at Pete's Place in Taylor, MI. It poured an opaque dark with thin tan head that left a nice ring lace. The scent had some roast and touch of mint. The taste started toasty then finishes with some mint. The mouthfeel is lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it was an interesting stout.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter.

Appearance - Black body. Big off white head. Thick collar.

Smell - Minty. Roasted malt. A bit of chocolate.

Taste - Bright mint. Chocolate roasted malt. Mint persists.

Mouthfeel - Medium low body. Medium carbonation.

Overall - Packs a lot of nice flavor into a pretty light stout. I'm a sucker for mint, though.
