Enjoyed at EBF 2014.

Brewed with pecan pies eh? Too bad it didn't make it into the flavor. I get some very mild nuts a midst a body that is very ordinary. The whole beer is a bit bland with no hops shining, watery malt and a flavor that doesn't shine through. Sorry, doesn't work for me.

This is Peacan Pie Beer from the folks at Right Brain in Traverse City, Michigan. It is advertised as having 40 real peacan pies brewed in to it with crust and all!

The Beer has a dark hazy amber color and small head. Medium bodied amber ale. Served in a snifter glass at Crunchy's Bar in East Lansing, MI this beer smells of biscuit and has notes of the peacan, somewhat nutty aroma (not as prevalent). The taste of this beer does not feature much of the advertised peacan, but does have a distinct biscuity taste which finishes with a strong amount of maltiness. There is also a milk and honey taste to this beer as it warms up, and it becomes sweeter over time.

Overall this is a creative idea by the innovators in Traverse City, but it was disappointing to not have more of the peacan pie taste that I was expecting. At 6.5% this beer packs a small punch.

review comments taken notes back in May 2013 while at the brewpub:

Made with 50 whole pecan pies.
nice amber hue with a light colored head, faint aromas of pecans and sugar... underwhelming mouthfeel, with a mild nutty taste leading into a strong malty finish.
