My better half and I took a trip to Traverse City this past weekend to get away and to stop at the local breweries. We ended up stopping at the Right Brain in the evening, and I have to agree with just about everyone that it was a very odd and hard to get to location. Upon walking into the building you have to pass a hair salon. You notice the walls covered with art and designs when stepping into Right Brain, plus get a "artsy" feel with practically everything involved.

The waitress we had was quite pleasent, courteous and energentic. The beers are listed on a large chalk board on the wall, giving a name, a slight description and style of the beers available.

I ended up trying a sampler, which contained 6 samples at 6 oz each for $15. The beers I had included: Naughty Girl Scout which was a stout containing a "thin mint" taste, a Beer called Wicked Garden Roasted Beet Wheat, which was basically what the name said as that's what it looked, smelled and tasted like. A LIttle Italy Honey Basil which had a Strong Basil taste and smell. A Burgundy Ale which was your typical Amber Ale. A Sun Cup American Wheat which wasn't bad and tasted like a usual American Style Wheat, and finally a beer called "Stoch Buddler Michigan Common Copper" which was quite interesting, though different at the same time.

One of the flaws of this place was that there was no food, which was surprising as you usually don't see this too often. But being that it was a small establishment it was understanding in a ways, and nice at the same time as you can bring a sandwich with no hassle.

Overall I found this place to contain a great environment, a great selection and a place I'd definitely return to and recommend.

Visited while on vacation in Northern Michigan. The kids had passed out for the night, and the in-laws volunteered to take watch so the wife and I could head out. Right Brain was one of two breweries open till midnight instead of 11,so we headed there (it was already 9:30). Location threw us off a little ; besides being dark out, the pub is located in what looks like a combo warehouse /office suite from the outside at the end of a residential street adjacent to railroad tracks. We checked the address twice (almost thought it might be the production facility and not the pub), and headed in.

Pub is wide and high-ceilinged, with art and memorabilia everywhere. There was a small room set aside with games and kids toys for families. Being a late hour during the week, we were two of only about a half dozen people there. Kitchen was closed, so we missed out on the waffle sandwiches ; the Cherry Kiss hummus made up for it.

Service was fast, friendly, and informative. Beer was good to excellent. Will hit again when in town.

Pretty disappointing visit. The selection of beer on tap was very mediocre, nothing terrible, but nothing great either. Mostly just flavorless.
The food is below average in quality with portions being very small, and the waffle used for a bun on every sandwich was not a very good substitute, being flavorless and almost mushy.
The locals do seem to like the beer, as I saw quite a few bring in the clear growlers used by Right Brain.
One thing for sure with this place is the employees have the neck-beards down pat.

Great vibe, retro arcade games and lots of beers to choose from.

Visited here today with Da Boss while touring Northern Lake Michigan.

Vibe was interesting, definitely eclectic with mannequin heads on stereo speakers, Homer Simpson suspended from the ceiling...you get the picture.

Quality of the beer was good. The two brews i had were pretty solid and Da Boss enjoyed her Irish ale.

Service was mostly self serve but will give credit for the friendliness of the gentleman that prepared our burgers and drew our brews.

Selection was solid as i believe there was 20 taps.

Food was good. Da Boss and i actually enjoyed our waffle bun burgers. Portions were smaller but that is OK as bigger is not always better.

Overall this was a nice place to visit and if i lived in MI i would definitely visit again.
