Nebraska Brewing Company
Nebraska, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.90%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our India Pale Ale has a pronounced hop bitterness and wonderful hop aroma. The taste immediately gives away the high hop characteristics with malt aspects playing second fiddle to this fantastic example of the style.

A: Pours a hazy copper color with some orange hues around the edges. Provides a tight off-white foam head with good retention and some nice spotty lacing.

S: Some mild amounts citrus hops with some bread and caramel malt.

T: Starts off with a nice kick of citrus hops. The middle sees a small amount of pine mix with the citrus hops. There is also some bready malt flavor that starts to balance out the beer. The back end finishes with a nice balance between the citrus hops and the bread and caramel malt.

M: A nice medium bodied beer. Leaves a slightly bitter taste on the palate.

O: Having this fresh made it quite enjoyable. It was a tick on the expensive side compared to similar IPA's.

Pours a hazy orange-ish color with an off white head. In the aroma, orange citrus hops. In the taste, orange citrus hops and a hint of pine, with a somewhat malty backing. A small hop bite and medium to lighter bodied mouthfeel, with a small dry pine hop in the aftertaste. Nice hops, it seems like a standard east coast IPA, with some west coast love.

Nebraska Brewing IPA

Pours copper orange with a chill haze and a small fizzy head that dies down to fine layers of lacing. Aroma of grapefruit zest, white pepper and orange. Citrus hop and an earthy bitterness in the flavor profile. Nice clean and refreshing. Medium bodied with a nice sharp bite and good feel. A really good go to IPA and my first brew from Nebraska.

Hey, an IPA. A pretty good IPA at that. Nice hoppy nose. Pleasant pungent citrus. Tastes very good. Lots of hop flavour. Nice malt foundation, slight caramel and fresh bread. Ample bitterness with a lingering grapefruit flavour. Obviously quite fresh and very enjoyable.

Reviewed on 3/27/2010. Growler from Big Z Beverage. Pours a deep red/orange with a thick off-white head. Aroma of caramel malts, light fruit, bready malt. Flavor of bready malts, grassy hops, with a bitter finish. Not much citrus presence in this one and it has a heavier body than most IPAs. Still, easy drinking and pleasant.

On tap at David Copperfields here in NYC.

I fully enjoyed this beer. A nice departure from the crazy-ass hop bombs that I'm getting tired of. Very nice balance, excellent malt flavor and balanced bittering that seemed somewhat different from the typical citrus hopping most IPA's are about.

Beautiful ruby red color. Had never heard of this brewery but I'd certainly have more next time I encounter it.

On-tap at Dirty Truth.

Pours amber with an off-white head that retains up until the end, becoming a thick ring. Leaves nice walls of lacing. Dark for the style.

Extremely low hop presence, only super-slight earthy notes. Caramel and bready malts are there but barely provide any flavor. Not much to say.

I'm not sure if this is old, but this is probably the most boring IPA I have had. Not offensive, but barely any flavors.

On-tap 10/8/2010 at Track 84 in Warwick, RI, served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a medium brown color, with a short off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma is faint but contains caramelized malts, floral hops and some citrus.

T: The taste starts out with sweet flavors of caramel and citrus. Then a decent hops bitterness comes in along with a hearty malt character and creates a good balance. The hops presence isn't quite as strong as most IPA's. The after-taste is slightly sweet.

M: Smooth and crisp, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

D: Tasty, goes down easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style despite being a little darker and less hoppy that most beers in the style, this is a good beer to drink for a while if you want a milder IPA.

A good looking beer, nice clear brown copper color with a respectable head.

Not a lot of hop in the nose, more sweet malt notes than anything with some earthiness.

Flavor has a caramel up front with a firm bitterness but not much hop flavor. The hops that are there are earthy. Has a bit of a grainy dry flavor. Also tastes a bit old, probably better when it's fresh. Nebraska is a long way's off from New York.

Mouth feel is pretty good, rich and full.

Actually a pretty drinkable beer, just not very interesting.

On tap at the Birdsall House in Peekskill, NY. Poured nearly clear, glowing almond amber, with bubbles rising and supporting a lighter khaki head, leaving scattered bits of fine lace on the glass. moderate hopped nose, resiny in nature. The moderate nature of the hop approach continues onto the tongue and mouth, resiny/grainy, but not much more then moderate in their presence. Middle of the road IPA, nothing special...Unlikely I'd go for this one again

On tap at Rattle-N-Hum in NYC. Pours cloudy honey amber in color with a small creamy off white head; pretty good lacing that sticks to the glass.

Smells of sweet malt, grains, hops, toasted bread and honey. Very weak nose overall.

Tastes of roasted malt, grains, lemon, citrus hops, caramel, bread and yeast...a toasty flavor that is not typical for an IPA and more like a lager than an IPA. It's a bad IPA, not hoppy or like an IPA at all...a drain pour, as it was tough to finish this beer. Bordered on terrible. A friend of mine also ordered one and gave the same review...he didn't even finish his.

74 IBUs.
Mild, earthy hop aroma. Thick, rocky, off-white head. Good head retention. Clear amber color. Hops dominate but some caramel malt flavors are apparent on the dry finish. Medium bodied with a dry finish. Hops dominate this beer. The dryness on the finish validates the 74 IBU rating.
