On my way to Waterville, ME on a business trip, I saw Sea Dog Brewing Company on a highway sign for the next exit. Of COURSE I pulled off the highway, and in my confused searching took a wrong turn and came upon this place.

I was quite impressed with their selection. They didn't have a HUGE number of different beers available, but the selection was outstanding. Stone, Weyerbacher, and many locals were present. But so were a LOT of imports, including some Belgians I had never heard of before.

Service was OK... no one came up to me while I browsed, but the cashier was friendly. The one problem I had was lack of prices. Very few beers had prices listed on the shelves or on the containers. I could understand if it were gold or silver, which changes constantly, but come on, this is beer. No reason not to slap a price sticker on a bottle.

That being said, definitely a place worth stopping if you're in the area. And while you're at it, go to Sea Dog Brewing. It makes for a pleasant afternoon.

This is my go to store for craft beer in the Brunswick/Topsham area. It's a beer/wine/liquor/redemption center all housed in a building larger then most standard beer stores but not big enough to be called a warehouse. One of my favorite Saturday morning activities is to gather up my empties, cruise over the Free Black Bridge (or as I like to call it the Captain Insano bridge) to Topsham, cash in the empties at Bootleggers and use the funds to buy more craft beer to start the cycle all over again. It's like the circle of life really, but that is neither here nor there.

Craft selection is above average for sure. Not the greatest selection I have seen in Maine but still better then 95% of the places out there. They have about 3-4 coolers of BMC, then 4-6 more coolers of mostly mid level craft and an entire 20 ft long shelving unit with warm high end craft beer. Prices are average and the staff is very friendly but generally not overly knowledgable about beer (i.e. I wouldn't ask any of them for a recomendation).

All in all a very solid selection for the area and a place just about any beer geek could find something to peak their interest.

This is my go to place for craft in the Brunswick area, you pretty much are able to get any craft beer that is available in the state of Maine, stone, victory, dfh etc.

They have the gauntlet of Belgian's rochefort, st bernadus, they even had Struise Tsjeeses as of this review, and many others.

I won't say much about macros as they have those as well. The service is always friendly and if you need or want something just ask if they don't have it they will write it down and Tony will call you back or let you know when it is coming in which for me he has done on more than one occasion. Just let the people at the counter know when they ask you did you find everything okay?

I think for the area (read not wanting to drive to Portland) the price, selection and service you can't go wrong with Bootleggers.

I was surprised going into Bootlegger and finding such a great beer selection. For such a large building, I thought only the big three would be supported and marketed, but after looking through a whole rack of Allagash, Weyerbacher, Three Philosophers, and many others, and also browsing through microbrewery selections, this may be the best beer selection that the Topsham region has to offer.

The workers are very friendly and the not only does Bootleggers have a great beer selection, they had many different regions of wine and a worthy 'harder liquor' section as well.

Next time your in Topsham, journey to Bootlegger's.

If you are in the Mid-Coast area this is the place to go.
Tony, the owner is a top notch guy who really knows his beer. He makes all the beer affordable, especially the end of the season cases. There is a huge selection of Belgium beers as well as beer from all over. There is still your PBRS and Bud tall boys.
There is a decent wine selection as well as hard stuff.
Good selection of Ciders.
Many of the beers have labels explaining the beers. If there isn't a label then one of the clerks will help and have the information you want.
Check it out!

Seriously a nice place that was quite surprising. I had been meaning to go here for a while now and finally hit it up. It's a new building but they make it feel like a warehouse since they have tons of 12-packs and cases stacked up, most of which are tend to be Magic Hat, Sam Adam's, Shipyard and Geary's. They do have BMC products but they only take about 3 or 4 cooler sections, with about 5-6 coolers dedicated to micro's.

Then there are the shelves with even more micro's and imports. Found a few things that other places have sold out of (such as Weyerbacher 13).

The staff that was there was very nice, didn't need any help since I usually get whatever I feel like, but it's always good to have people working that aren't stuck up and enjoy working where they are.

Overall, a good selection with plenty of it.

Truly a gem for the area. A large selection for small town maine of local, national, and international beers. Whats even better is the economy offered by the place. Usually on fridays they put one or two beers on sale for 9.99 a 24 pack or 2.99 a sixer. Ive seen such notable beers as Sam Adams, Geary's, and others. These keep beers tend to be local micros but since there are so many great local micros its tough to go wrong! Recently there has also been a redemption center installed which makes returning empties and getting nice new pretty full beer bottles easy as cake.
