Here is the Brewery description:"Brewed with pale ale, chocolate and black malts and balanced with American Crystal hops. We have added a special twist to this style by adding blackstrap molasses to the brew kettle during the boil.

A nicely balanced dark brown ale with more American muscle than those import browns in the clear bottles. A wonderful deep caramel and chocolate background juxtaposed with a moderate hop bitterness."
I find this to be an enjoyable brown ale...The taste is clean but certainly not an English style brown ale....Nice chocolate flavor but not so immense that it tastes like chocolate milk....about the right touch....this also has a unique flavor to it perhaps from the blackstrap molasses which I have used in chilli before but have never experienced in a beer.

Deep brown colored with a nice tan head.

Aroma has hints of light java..also cocoa...nice

This is a quality made beer. Not tremendously complex but I don't expect my brown ales to be that way anyhow. A good workman like brown ale with character. I like the clean feel to this. Almost schwartzbier like...

Should be light enough to please the masses yet flavorful enough to appease the geeks. I had two pints in the pub and am drinking from one of the two growlers I bought. If it is on tap next time I am in St. Cloud I will be buying more. Recommended.

Growler courtesy of big ol ZAP. Thanks bud. Deep and dark burgandy tone. Not a lot of light gets through this badboy. Thin beige head leaves sparse amounts of lace.Chalky, dusty brown malt presence on the nose. A little roast too. Flavor is more of the same, but the weak uncarbonated mouthfeel really takes away from the overall impression. This growler's only 6 days old, so it should still be fine. But it must not have been capped off tight enough. Am I getting a little blackstrap molasses on the buds too? Seems like it. Probably better than my marks right out of the tapper or in a nicely sealed growler.
