Served on-tap at Sunday brunch following PSU's homecoming weekend.

A: The brown ale is a dark cola brown color, opaque due to color. A tan colored head on pour didn't last long.

S: The nose is loaded with caramel syrup and nuts. Hops add just a touch of bitterness of the brown ale's body.

T: A delicious brown ale, this one is full-bodied and pleasing. The dark malts have a caramel and chocolate flavor, both sweet but grounded by a nutty toffee touch. The sweetness is the dominant feature in a subtle, very drinkable ale.

M: The dark malts are enjoyably sweet, loaded with flavors that don't disappoint.

D: For being such an 'average' style, this beer works. I could sit at the bar all day and pound it.

On draft from cask at Zeno's Pub in State College. Pours deep dark brown along with a tan and firm, patchy head. Sweet malts in the nose: brown sugar, some toasted grains or toated bread, and even some light roast notes. Flavor turns more towards ashy maple syrup over time, with some dry hops and light char noticed as well, before finishing slightly on the sweet side (caramel malt). Smooth and full bodied. A surprising, good brown that is fresh and lively, and hoppy for the style. What a nice beer!

Had on tap at Zeno's served in a pint glass

Appearance – A deeper brown beer. When held up to lights, some of the rays do get through, but does indeed have a nice darker color making it very dark. Not much of a head on the beer upon serving with a very light amount of lacing.

Smell – A nice sweet aroma of caramel with a very light toasty aroma first encountered. While the sweet aroma persists the toasty aroma fades away to a very light bitter hop at the end.

Taste – Sweet caramel and toffee with chocolate hit the mouth. Some breadiness and maltiness of barley come through with a very, very light hoppiness. The flavor profile has a beautiful balance.

Mouthfeel – Creamy and smooth with the perfect somewhat lighter level of carbonation.

Overall – This is one very enjoyable beer. It had the perfect balance of sweet and malt flavors and aromas with the slightest bit of hop to round it all out. Superb!!!
