In the oversaturated bar scene of Athens, GA, Trappeze is truly a diamond in the rough. They appreciate beer here and it shows. The bartenders are knowledgeable and always up to talk beer. They offer half pours, which is really nice if you want to try a variety of different beers. The food is good too, especially the rosemary garlic fries and the complimentary boiled peanuts.
The selection is what really stands out, though. They have a wide variety of styles, both on tap and bottled, that will appeal to many palates. I was pleasantly surprised to find Dieu du Ciel's Péché Mortel here. There are beer-oriented magazines and newspapers available if you want to read about the scene and find out about upcoming events. Oftentimes there are local brewers who will come in and hangout. Plus, they have a really cool environmentally friendly toilet.
My one criticism is that the menu is frequently outdated. I realize that they have beers coming and going all the time, so it's really no big deal. Overall, it's hard to beat Trappeze. If you love beer and find yourself in Athens this is a mandatory stop.

My cousin and I dropped in here before the 2017 Mississippi State @ UGA game, It's a legendary spot with a history connected to Wild Heaven in Decatur. We enjoyed the visit and the game.

A really good list of beers on tap but to be world class they needto add at least a few more taps. There were a few exotic beers I haven't had before but the prices were very high (at least $9). Excellent food. Friendly service.

Athens, I love you. This place is so cool from beer to food they got you covered.
Had a wonderful craft beer selection, and an incredibly knowledgable staff that knew
a great deal about the beer. Honestly, this place is a must go for any craft beer enthusiast.
I recommend going to Creature Comforts brewery first for a tour, then going to Trappeze Pub for a burger and awesome brew.

I love this pub. It is the absolute best place in Athens and the surrounding area for good beer. Thankfully it also has really good food, it's easy to convince girlfriends or others to join you if it has a tap listing you want to try.
The draft beers are numerous (20+) and frequently varying, the website is updated bi-weekly to let you know what's new. Prices are very manageable, 1/2 pours of most beers means more tries for less money.
I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. Great pub atmosphere with an even better drink selection.

I had to rate this place and I don't do ratings generally
I had been here when the place opened 5 years ago and was wowed then
They have raised the bar and then some since then. The food was top notch and a great value. Draft list exactly what you'd expect from a place rated this highly. The staff is very well trained and knowledgable In short I couldn't find a single chink anywhere. From half pours at lunch to amazing quality delivered at a price on the food menu I just don't know why people go anywhere else in Athens

An absolute jewel for great beer in Athens. Very knowledgeable staff combined with a vast selection. Their kitchen staff does a very good job as well. Always a great place for fine beer and great food in Athens. They always have at least 12 different craft brews on tap, and no telling how many in bottles. One of my favorites.

This was my number one beer destination in Athens, but not quite the best.
33 taps at the Trappeze, with locals like Terrapin, Mother Earth, Sweetwater, Wild Heaven… plus Sierra, Avery, Left Hand, North Coast Raspy, Bell’s Java, Bruery 5 Rugs and a bunch of Belgian and German brews. I chose a delicious Terrapin Wake-n-Bake Imperial Stout.
The bottle selection is even better, with a ton of vintages, sours, barrel-aged brews and stuff at very fair prices. They also offer bomber pours and ½ pour of all drafts, which is something I love.
The joint itself looks very college-town-like, and it is manned by college-town dudes and dudettes. Our young scruffy server looked like he had smoked one too many blunts, but he wasn’t terrible. The bar is the area to be at, and there is also a restaurant side with tables and booths.
Short food menu with some goodies, not very well executed. We had boiled peanuts (overcooked and mushy), pimento cheese (funky), a beef slider (fine but cooked to a leather-grey) and beer-cheese soup (way too starchy). Still, they try to be different.
A good bar for sure, but not the best experience.
