From estucerveza. In Teku glass. Playing Broken Age. Watery, with a light coffeeness and some lemon acidness that feels a bit out of place without completely ruining it

Poured from bottle into tulip, aggressive pour yielded very little tan color head, gone quickly no lacing. Brownish black in the glass, no light passes thru. Smells of roasted malt, some chocolate peeking thru. Taste is pretty smooth roasted malt in the front, some slight sweetness in the middle and a very faint bitterness on the end. There is some cocoa and chocolate that is in the middle and lingers on the palate afterwards. Mouthfeel is fine for a 5.6 and it might be a little thin.

Pours opaque, dark brown in color with 1/4 inch head. Taste is deep roasted malts, char, cocoa, and light hops. Light bodied, medium carbonation and a nice mix of bitter and sweet. Makes for a decent, above average dark beer. Well done, but I have others I prefer in the style.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear black (just shy of jet black) in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and faint cola brown highlights. The beer has a finger tall fizzy tan head that quickly reduces to a very small patch of very thin film and a very thin ring at the edges of the glass. Minimal amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of dark + roasted malts with a hint of smoked malts.
T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of dark + roasted malts with a light flavor of smoked malts and a light to moderate amount of dark fruit-like (plum) sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of iodine and a hint of earthy hops but not bitterness present.
M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly thin.
O: Reminds me of a hybrid of a very light rauchbier and an English porter; light in flavor, aroma, and mouthfeel but still quite enjoyable.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at the World of Beer in Columbia, SC. The appearance is a nice black color with a small tan head. The aroma is malt, plain and simple. The taste is smoky malt. A very enjoyable beer.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a deep brown color with a billowy head of a cream colored foam. The head has a good level of retention, slowly fading to leave a ton of foamy lace on the sides of the glass.
Smell – The aroma is big a roasted malt with lots of sweeter smells of chocolate, molasses and caramel. Along with these aromas comes some lighter notes of a bit of vanilla and a hint of a bready smell which overall create a very brownie like aroma to the brew. Quite delicious.
Taste – The taste is a bit differentiated from what one may expect from the nose. It does start out with a decent showing of a roasted malt taste, but unlike the nose would suggest, the taste is much drier then would be expected. There is a little bit of a caramel and molasses flavor upfront, which fade a bit as the taste advances, but which are replaced by some chocolate flavors. A little bit of a vanilla and some light grain and hay come at the very end, leaving one with a somewhat drier, but not too dry, dark cake-like flavor to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the thinner side for a porter with a carbonation level that is rather average to slightly higher. A thicker body and slightly lower carbonation would have likely been better as they would have accentuated the dark and roasted flavors much nicer.
Overall – A decent, not overly sweet porter. Not a bad one to try, but nothing too outstanding either.
