Rich, creamy stout with an extra dose of holiday cheer.

Excessively foamy when pouring. No body. Very faint spice taste bur certainly no egg nog. Maybe (hopefully) I got a bad batch because this was not a good beer.

I don’t taste any egg nog. The only flavors I am tasting is chocolate malt and vanilla. I smell the egg nog though. Solid stout but didn’t live up to the name imo.

This beer is, quite frankly, a mess. The body is almost non-existent, leading to very little stout flavor dominated by an astringent taste of cinnamon and nutmeg. This was a drainpour.

Spring House Brewing "The Martians Kidnap Santa! Egg Nog Stout"
$6 / pint on tap @ The Taproom (Spring House Brewing Co.), Lancaster, PA on 12 April 2017

Notes: Typical stout appearance: brown-black body beneath a finger-thick tan head. Limited head retention and lacing. Softly roasty with milk chocolate and subtle spice in the nose. Much fuller in the flavor with the nutmeg and cinnamon coming forward, and fortunately they're not overdone. Additional notes of dark chocolate, brown sugar, soft coffee, and a hint of vanilla. It's sweetish but not sweet, balanced by a modest bitterness ~ certainly more of a stout that has some spices added to it than a sweet dessert beer. As the roastiness in the finish fades some soft spice is left behind. Unfortunately the bitterness lingers as well, along with just a touch of alcohol. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation that leaves it soft and smooth but also limits the head retention, a fair trade-off I guess. An interesting beer with a great start, an average middle, and a bumpy finish. Still, I think its good points outweigh its bad points and I'd try it again. I'm hoping that they'll improve it as I think it could be a great winter beer.

I actually enjoyed this gimmicky offering from Springhouse, although to be honest most of their beers are somewhat gimmicky. Solid base stout with realistic egg nog flavors.

Reddish brown, very dark, mocha head. Smells like egg nog and roast, cinnamon, sweet vanilla. Roasty cinnamon and vanilla flavor too. Definitely get a festive egg nog-like aftertaste. Moderate carbonation (most up front but disappears quickly), thick and chewy, yum.

Or with Leah at sharp edge. neat twist on a stout. I do like eggnog, and this beer has a bit of spice (I think). Any way I can picture driving an eggnog while drinking this Stout.
