the best offering of the spring house brs. this is a big beer that was so damn smoove. almost a perfect combination of barrel, adjuncts, and flavors with just enough of everything to enjoy every sip. wish it was a little thicker, but im splitting hairs.

thanks to Brandon for sharing this enjoyed chilled in a snifter.

The color is black opaque with quick dropping tan head with fine bead. The smell is rich with bourbon in its Pappy glory -dessert like vanilla yet woody and rich with caramel/cocoa and coconut with slight alcohol in the nose. The feel is great rich smooth and lightly sweet with a roasty and light woody texture with mostly dry finish.

The taste is great lot of malt with smooth wood in taste not too tannic with bourbon imprint that has a slight vanilla accent almost custard like with rich caramel malt and slight cocoa from chocolate malt with light bourbon in the back with mild dry woody finish with slight alcohol. this is incredible very good -perhaps the best Spring House beer I have had in a long time -nice blend of bourbon with Blood Lust base stout.

Very excited for this beer. Big fan of Spring House and of course Pappy aged beers. Poured from 750ml bottle into a snifter. Pours black with no head. Leaves a nice oily lace on the glass as you drink it. Has a great bourbon smell with hints of dark fruit and molasses. Taste is similar with vanilla added. Perfect about of bourbon in the flavor with very little heart for almost 17%. This beer was a little thin for the style but overall a great beer.

Super easy to drink. Wow. Cannot believe this is close to 17%. Lots of vanilla, some chocolate mid palate and tons of oak on the finish. Super dry. Smooth.

When this was freshly released in March, we popped a bottle asap and thought it was fantastic. So here, 6 months later I decided to get into another bottle to see how it was aging. Considering springhouse's barrel aged track record, I figured this would be a different experience. Im happy to report that this beer is holing up well and is clearly the best beer they released in their barrel aged program thus far.

750ml corked and caged bottle poured into a snifter, it appear black in color with a thin tan cap that fizzels away leaving spotty lace.

The nose is toasted coconut, vanilla, caramel and boozy oak that when mingled with the dark grains produces almost a fudgy chocolate scent that is downright salivating.

The taste includes smooth oak, tannins, caramel, vanilla, booze, earth and some mild char. Everything blends together here so well and is very integrated, smooth and enjoyable.

This is full bodied and lightly carbonated. Its a boozy sipper but absolutely delicious. Well worth seeking out.

Pours thick jet black, clingy tan head. Smells of bourbon, alcohol, vanilla. Tastes of smooth bourbon, fudge, vanilla and some light peppery notes. Overall, an awesome barrel aged RIS from Spring House

Head subsides quickly and we're left with an obsidian beer with clinging legs. Aroma is huge - bourbon, fudge, bakers chocolate, chili spice, a hint of maple / toffee / vanilla. Flavor carries through with hints of cinnamon, oak, clove coming in waves as the flavor lingers. Incredible stout.

black bodied beer with thick cap. Smell like pappy, oak, and a fudgy stout with lite roast malt. Taste is much the same as the aroma. body is medium bording on full bodied stout. low carbonation levels with great smoothness and it is not very boozy. Spring house did pretty impressive work with this barrel aged stout and put a great stout in the pappy barrels.

#1500 on BA - nice bottle to have as my 1500 check in.

Perfect in so many ways. Great body that lingers just long enough in the mouth. A smell that says I have bourbon in me but just enough to not overpower the base beer. And a finish that says try to hold off drinking more as long as you can because it lingers for a long time. Reminds me of PVWBM, not as good as that beer was when it was fresh but close to as good as it is right now(just had PVWBM 2 weeks ago again)

Great job Spring House this one was a homerun!

750 ml bottle, corked & caged. Served into a teku.

L: Dense deep black on the pour and in the glass. Carbonation seems dialed in. Leaves a nice amount of lacing along the walls and a cap throughout the drink.

S: Fudge, chocolate, oak. Not huge in the way of actual bourbon, but there are hints of it.

T: Less like the nose. Lots of roasty malts, some oak, ample level of bourbon. It's more than the other barrel variants but not overwhelming the beer by any means. Personally, I appreciate the balance it has.

F: Again, carbonation is fine. If anything, it certainly does not feel or drink like it is a 16.70% beer. And if that's actually completely true, that is an impressive feat on the part of Spring House.

Very enjoyable, very drinkable. It's not in your face bourbon, and I bet you'd never know it was Pappy. A nice way to close out the included bottles in the membership.
