Notes / Commercial Description:
Creamy, malty, and full-bodied, the Big Gruesome Stout is scary good. The intense, roasty flavor comes from two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. The stout is then aged on whole vanilla beans and more raw cocoa nibs to enhance the chocolate flavors. Rich peanut butter is introduced throughout the entire brewing process to make this stout even more Gruesome.

Bought in August with no bottle date. Huge peanut butter taste and aroma. If there is a lot of chocolate the peanut butter completely overwhelms it. The only beer of this style that is as good is the Willoughby offering.

This is a beer I would buy again. I have tasted Samuel Smith's Chocolate stout, Brooklyn Brewing, Young's Double Stout and Rapp Brewing's Peanut Butter Stout -
Big Gruesome competes if not surpasses these other beers. Springhouse Brewing did an outstanding job in the details of this beer. It starts wit the pour - creamy, thick, viscous and dark with a light brown lacing. All very attractive. Malty roasted character at the nose and if you are not paying attention to what you smell you miss the light peanut butter aroma from the beer. When you catch that it is wonderful. What a aromatic, flavorful Stout. It is great at the pour to look at, wonderful at the nose, creamy and roasty in the mouth and slightly bitter and flavorful at the finish with its
roasted malt, cocoa and sweet vanilla bean presence and nuttiness. These brewers created a wonderful artisinal and attentive concoction with their use of two types of chocolate malt and raw cocoa nibs. Then aging the brew on whole vanilla beans and more raw cocoa nibs to enhance the chocolate flavors. Then add the peanut butter - what an outstanding beer.
