Virginia LagerVirginia Lager
Notes: A Virginia Original. A cold-aged beer of the smoothest flavor, with gently toasted malt and a light hand of noble hops. We've created an easy-drinking beer with ample flavor and depth of color.

On-tap at Capital Ale House, Richmond, VA

A: The beer is crystal clear amber yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a thin white lacing on the surface and a small collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of toasted malts are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows teh smell and has slightly stronger flavors of toasted malts and a faint amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The taste of this beer is a little weak and muted compared to others in the style.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium to dark amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation and moderate amounts of golden yellow + honey orange colored highlights. The beer has a finger tall sudsy foamy beige head that reduces to a couple of small patches of sudsy thin film with a large patch of very thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer (90%) and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Light to moderate aromas of lightly toasted malts, slightly fruity yeast, and light aromas of spicy + floral hops.

T: Upfront there are just shy of moderate flavors of lightly toasted + biscuit + caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by a light to moderate flavor of light fruit (apple + pear + white grape) yeast and light flavors of spicy + floral hops. The hops contribute a light amount of bitterness which fades away pretty quickly.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Clean finish.

O: Easy to drink and enjoyable - not one of the most exciting beers I have tried but a solid offering in a less sexy style.

A: A fairly deep brown color, mostly clear, with a light tan head.

S: Slightly fruity with a light grain aroma, as well as perhaps a touch of a rice smell as well. Perhaps a touch of floral hops.

T: Fruity notes, and bread up front, with some floral notes, and a touch of bitter tannin in the finish.

M: Medium light in body, with high carbonation. Finish is tannic and a touch dry.

O: Overall the beer isn't bad but I think it misses the mark on style.. Color is pretty heavy, and the flavor is bolder than I would have expected. Perhaps it is in the wrong category, but the bottle doesn't describe much either.

Had in a bottle at the new Carolina Ale House in Short Pump Va....hard to tell any real smell, some possible fruity notes, maybe some bread? Taste is crisp and smooth maybe some banana, very little after taste very smooth. Solid offering just nothing special

Good beer!
Enjoyed the color of the beer as it poured into the glass as I was reading last night. Not too strong, not too bitter and not too "foamy". Would drink again.

This is a very crisp, almost abrasive, lager. Tons of barley, grain, Graham Cracker and nuttiness, this is an above average lager with an abnormal feel.
