This place is in my hometown area so I decided to give it a whirl. I knew where the pantry quik was but....wait a minute there's beer next door now? A lot can happen over 5-10 years.

In any event, I believe I met a cat there who is either the owner or at least the purchaser of the beer for the store. He was very knowledgable and ultra friendly. In fact, he told me to pick up Hair of the Dog - Adam while I was there which it turns out is pretty rare out in these parts. I was pretty excited to learn that fact from bamadog.

For the Hazleton area, the selection is just phenomenal. I imagine the rotation will vary depending on what's selling but they had a ton of beers that I had a lot of interest in. Prices weren't the cheapest I've seen but the quality of the beer seems to command a higher price. Definately worth a stop.

Great small town beer store. I can just buy one beer or 6packs. The selection is amazing for the town. I got Dogfish 61 min ipa on tap They also had on tap Shock top spiced banana(I cant even find that beer on beer advocate) Plus local Berwick brewery beers on tap. The single bottle selection is always changing and has lots of rate cards on the selections. I got bottles of dogfish 75 min ipa and sierra beer camp. Love this place.

Not a world class beer shop. For the area, yeah it's pretty good. The selection is OK with a strong showing of local offerings and the occasional gem. Not a bad shop, I wouldn't go out of my way again but if you're in the area I'd say stop by. You never know what you might find.

I have been going to the beer stop for years. I grew up in Hazleton and stop there every time I visit my parents. The selection of singles is great and once in a while you will find a rarity mixed in. The price is very reasonable too. I met the owner a few times and he knows and enjoys craft beer. Support your local beer store and not the grocery stores!

Great place locally to pick up hard to find brews, buy them in 4 packs, 6 packs or individual bottles or serving growlers!

In the Hazleton, PA area there are practically no pubs that serve craft brews. You must drive 30 minutes or more to find some excellent brew pubs! Thankfully, we have the Beer Stop. They provide a fantastic selection of craft brews and now are filling 32 oz disposable growlers and 64 oz refillable growlers! This Beer Stop is just that. It's not a pub, it's attached to a convenient store, so it's pick-up only. Overall, a fantastic place to pick and choose the brew of your choice!

Living in Hazleton, PA it was always hard to find some good microbrews, a fews spots carried the basic Sierra Nevada, Saranac, but nothing really good.

Then along came the Beer Stop in West Hazleton. Anyone in the NEPA area that love's micro's definetely has to stop here. He has an awesome selections of micros including all the major hitter, good selection of belgians and of course a bunch of limited release beers.

Single, Sixers, 750's he has them all. If you are a beer nerd this is one place you have to check out.

Finding Dogfishead 120 and Brooklyn Blackops in Hazleton is almost unheard of until now.

Now also filling growlers.

My friend and I stopped by this store while heading back toward northeast Alabama from a road trip.  Where we are from, there are no stores in a forty mile radius that carry microbrew beer.
This store has a great selection of six-pack and single beer. They are all reasonably priced as well.

The owner was present and came off as a friendly guy who really knew his beer. He made several great beer recommendations to try and also had us engaged in some informational beer conversations. He even carried the highest rated beer in the world along with an interesting story behind it.

We came out satisfied customers with a small cache of beer never before seen in our corner of Alabama. This is by far the best beer store we have set foot in.

Stopped off while down in the area visiting family. Beer Stop was attached to a little grocery store on the side of the road. Wasnt too hard to get to. I checked the place out on BeerAdvocate for a while and finally got a chance to go.
The selection was awesome. Alot of craft singles to your left when you first walk in. And ratings of the beers are posted everywhere. I bought of couple Mikkeller brews, Troegs, Founders, Ballast Point, and a milk stout from Landcaster Brewing which i havent tried yet. There was plenty of selection in the singles, and also six packs.
The service was not as others described. There was only one elderly woman working who did not know about the beers.
I will be going back when im down in that area again.
Overall, it was a good beer shop with a selection of fresh craft brews which made me happy.

Very nondescript place. You'd never know pulling up what's inside. Small, but very good selection of single bottles and also solid selection of sixers. Nice selection of Belgians and other harder to find craft brews. Saw Black Albert there last time I was there, Rochefort, Orval, Westmalle, etc, some Bruery, Alesmith, Lost Abbey, Hopslam, gets KBS. Seems to have a nice rotating selection. The owner Alan is a great guy, very nice and knowledgeable, but not always there. He's given me recommendations a few times for less expensive beers that he thinks are better than higher priced ones he has of the same style. Prices are the most reasonable of any of the places I've gone for bottles in the area. This is definitely my go to bottle shop in the area.

This place is definetly a go to when I'm up in that area. They have a lot of singles ranging from Founders to Lost Abbey to Victory and many many other fine craft brews. Too many to list but you get the idea. Plus he also has a good selection from other beer countries like Germany, Belgium, and England. He's always getting new stuff in and the guy that runs the place knows his fair share about beer.
This place is really easy to miss while driving by. It is right behind a gas station and parking can be a bit crowded at times because the lot is pretty narrow. But all in all this place has good beer at good prices and I happily drop by when I have the chance to.

This my goto spot for craft brew beers. They have a pretty good selection from the big Guys to the small guys. Sometimes even get beers that don't normally make it to the east coast. The best thing I like about the place that you can buy Single bottles which there not many places around that do that. I like to buy a bottle to try it instead of putting the money out on a six to twelve or a case of a beer that I might not like.

Price seem reasonable. And Hazleton is a drinking Mecca but finding love for the craft brew companies.

And I'm enjoying it every time I go.

A nice bottle shop for micros in NE PA. Being as there's no other place that I know of within at least 50 miles, it's really the only option. That being said, they do have a nice selection of singles, probably 250 or so brews. There are at least 3 or 4 of any given style, so you should be able to find something that you like or try something new. I would and have recommended Beer Stop to others. Prices are reasonable, there are plenty of singles for less than $1.50, most in the $2 range. They also carry the full line of 22 ounce Stones and they run about $7.

(Updated) Moving from Philadelphia to Hazleton, PA I was extremely concerned about how I would get my Belgian fix. Tucked behind the Pantry Quick I found the Beer Stop. Anyone in this part of PA that is serious about beer should make the pilgrimage here. The selection of over 450+ beers is impressive and new varities come in all the time. The owner is very passionate about beer, if you tell him what style you enjoy he will surely recommend you something that you've never had but will absolutely love. I'm a huge fan of Belgian ales and was happy to get a hold of a few Rochefort 10's, Pannepots, and other fine assortments. Not one to rest on his laurels, the owner is constantly working to get new brews into the store. Within the past two months he has carried the elusive Westvleteren 12 and 8, Angel Share, KBS, Tenfidy, Hopslam, and too many others to name. He is extremely knowledgeable and honest in his recommendations, at one point I was going to splurge on a particular brew but he suggested a comparable but still less expensive one by Unibroue, Blance de Cambly, which was excellent. Whether you live nearby or are just passing through, stop by the Beer Stop, you will find yourself coming back.

Being that I spent the night in Hazleton, I figure I would try this place out to see if I could find some stuff that I couldn't get in Michigan or Ohio. I cannot really comment on the service, because I didn't need help. While they did have a pretty good selection, sticker shock also came along with it. When I see a six pack of Great Lakes for $13 for something that runs $9 in Michigan or Ohio, I knew their prices would be high. Needless to say I didn't purchase anything and next time that I am in Hazleton if I want less than a case of beer.

Great place to go, especially for the area. Tons of brews that are always rotating and very reasonably priced.

Owner is very passionate about beer and a pleasure to talk to. Not afraid to tell you when he thinks something is overpriced or not of great quality. Pleasure to deal with.

Bottle selection is always changing and has rate beer tags above many of the selections. Just an overall great experience and I always check it out when I am in the area. You never know what you might find. Only thing is it missing is a few taps to taste on.

this place is my new beer mecca without a doubt the best place around in northeast PA. i went in the other day and as usual was blown away by the selection as usual until i looked above the register and saw two westys a 12 and an 8(not sure if these were for sale they must have been for display since these are illegal to resale!), two utopias then when i go to mix a six i see two black ops in the cooler. on top of this there is plenty of other great beers that are world class just a bit more available and to make it better some have the ba or rate beer rating in front of them to let you know how good they are. service wise as soon as i walked in the guy (who is either the owner or beer buyer) asked me if i needed help which went into him asking me what im drinking recently which turned into an awesome 10-15 min conversation with him where he name dropped tons of beer he recommend hes ultra cool and ultra knowledgeable about beer and extremely helpful. the quality is also excellent i never had any problem with a bad beer as maybe due to my rather large purchase he threw in two 4 packs of O'Hara's Irish Stout and Red which was on special since the expiration date was coming up but he assured me he tried one last night and it was fine reguardless of the 30-40 drive min drive i have to get there i still make the drive all the time

One of my favorite places to buy beer in PA! The rotating selection is great, I always find something interesting to try. The single bottle prices are great for PA without forcing you to buy a specified number of bottles to get a discount. When the owner is there, he is very friendly and helpful. He really knows his beer and is willing to give advice and chat beer. The only reason I docked a half point off of service is you don't get much help over the phone if the owner isn't there and you call in to see if something is in stock. I highly highly recommend stopping in anytime you are anywhere near West Hazleton, I know I do! Check out for updates on their selection, but I've always found a nice selection of assorted Belgian beer, Founders, Victory, Weyerbacher, Troegs, DFH, Terrapin, Stone, Rogue, and many other dom. micros and imports.

I was surprised and impressed by this place. The selection is excellent and the singles variety is cold, large and not jacked-up price wise. The Beer Stop is 2 miles from my grandmother's house and halfway between my house and my family's in DC...good for me!
Talked to the owner who was friendly and certainly knew his stuff. After talking a bit he recomended Founders...after getting home I wish I only wish I would have bought more, the Centennial IPA is excellent and the Breakfast Stout is outstanding. I love to be steered in the right direction and not in a $ direction.

I can say I will not drive past Hazleton without stopping in to see what's new in here. I left with a good impression which only got better after tasting the recommendations!

So this place looks like a dive but when you get inside the name of the place is appropriate. It is a "beer stop!" It's a very small room connected to a connivence store and it is full of beer. First of all, they have six packs which appears to be a rarity in PA due to state laws. Several coolers full of singles. The 12oz singles seemed a little pricey. The cheapest one I picked was $2 for a beer that most like was not part of a $12 six pack. Still the chance to pick up 12oz singles is a huge plus in my book. Bombers and 750s were reasonably priced. Good selection - Stone, Moylans, Mikeller, etc. The staff was less than friendly or even remotely pleased that I was dropping a fair chunk of change in their store, but the beers were well taken care of. I'm glad the hotel I wanted in Wilkes-Barre was booked since I stumbled onto Hazleton and this great store.

Was taken to this craft beer outpost by Clockworkorange. He has been telling me this place is pretty solid, a absolutely wonderful for Hazleton, well he is of course correct!

Without question this is THE place for craft and import beers in the Hazleton area. A most impressive selection of six packs, bombers all compacted in a rather small space allowing to see and find ecerything easily. One can mix and match your own six pack,or simply buy a couple of bombers, singles and leave.

Brand selection was impressive with many of the heavy hitters from the USA to include, Stone, Rouge, Bells, Founders, Troegs, Hoppin' Frog, Bear Republic, Victory and Founders, and many more.

They also proudly announce they carry 38 of the BA Top 100 beers in the world. If that isnt enough they also have signs and rating cards, from both BA and RB, on many of the beers.

A very nice selection of Belgian and German beers is also available. Prices are great, better than just about anywhere I have seen in PA.

The girl on duty was pleasant and helpful. Initially she asked us if she could help us out, nope just browsing. Then, when we really did have a question she was more than willing to go check the storeroom to find the answer. Nothing outrageous but she was there when needed.

Certainly a worthy stop if you are anywhere near Hazleton and in need of a few brews!

100 Bottles of Beer at The Beer Stop, 100 Bottles of Beer

Stopped by The Beer Stop when I was in Hazleton last, and picked up a tasty quartet of domestic craft beers. Bell's Hopslam, Bear Republic's Racer 5 I.P.A, Stone Ruination I.P.A., and Founders Centennial I.P.A.

They are now featuring something new that will ensure many return visits: the Top 100 beers. In the coolers, representatives of the top century of beers, as rated by a well-known beer advocacy organization, are labeled and briefly described.

If that's not enough to get you interested, the fellow in there, is very knowledgeable and can, in detail, describe each of the tasty fermented treats. In fact, it's a requirement for the job!

If you don't know exactly what you want, or want to take that first step into the craft beer world, this is the place to try in southern Luzerne County.

And if you've partaken but not lately, it's worth a stop.

A+ all the way around...Made the trip from Wilkes Barre & definitely worth the trip...I last visited around Christmas & wasn't really disappointed but made the trip during business hours & got to talk with the owner. Very knowledgeable guy!!! I told him what I like & look for in a beer, as I am not really a fan of stouts or very dark/heavy beers...He was a big help in telling me to check out the Belgians... Not just trying to sell me beer but to try to enjoy what I was buying...He took time out of his day to chat with me, between him waiting on customers, about beer in general, nice guy, awesome selection!!! You won't be disappointed if you are anywhere near Hazleton to check this place out for hard to find beers...Plenty of German/Belgian brews as well as microbrews... They have a selection of the top beers in the world and even which rank they are... Dealing with PA laws on beer & alcohol can't be easy & it's amazing what he has...True diamond in the rough!!! I will definitely go back again!!!
