Really need to separate the review of the bar from and the bottle shop. The bar is small but comfortable. Good selection on tap. Very knowledgeable on beer selection.
Bottle shop attendant (usually Chris) is truly a wealth of knowledge. Downside is it is a throwback to old style pony keg where attendant is up on loading dock and beer is in the walk in cooler. There are bottles on shelves to help, but there are no aisles to browse to see what is on hand. You either know what you want or take heir advice, which is excellent. Me, I like to look and read labels.
Selection is awesome. One of top four or five top shops in Cincinnati.

RIP This was a pretty good spot to get a beer, back when it was hard to get interesting beer. Now that beer is so much easier to get, this was much more of a nice place to hand than to get a beer.

Very uncomfortable shopping experience. Their bottles are in a trailer outside of the bar and pretty cluttered. Anything limited you pretty much have to ask for by name as they do not display them. At times the attendant looks inconvenienced to assist you with questions. Pretty standard selection for the city nothing over the top or separates them. The food at the larder is very good but the beer selection is pretty minimal for a "beer bar" I used to dig this place but as they have become more popular the service has declined IMO. Much better options in the city to shop and with better tap lists.

Stopped at the bottle shop part of Dutchs and the attendant was helpful with all the questions I had for him. Honestly after reading the reviews and being refered there I was a bit disappointed. There is a nice selection of bottles to look at on the dock but they don't really have any new bottles sitting out. So if you are looking for something you have to constantly ask if they have it. Id suggest following them on twitter or facebook to know when they get things again. Very helpful on those.

Best beer bar in Cincinnati bar none. Only 8 taps, but they're constantly rotating them and they always have at least a few of the following available: interesting, hard to find/rare, and good locals. Plus they have a bottle selection that numbers in the hundreds (they usually have some nice rare/hard to find bottles available, but you have to ask). The staff is always friendly and very knowledgeable. The food is also excellent, and a nice change of pace from standard pub fare. Think gourmet sandwiches and sides made from organic and locally sourced ingredients. The atmosphere is slightly upscale, but relaxed and comfortable, and they have a nice patio with tables (and fire pits in the winter). The bottle shop is also excellent, and as mentioned before, the bottle selection is very large. The bottle shop is a "dock", where you essentially walk up out on the sidewalk and tell them what you want. Being able to walk around an actual shop and browse would be preferable, but it works fine, and you'll never feel rushed. The shop staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended.

Interesting spot.... never been so cold buying brews before.
Mind you it was barely above zero and this is an outdoor bottle shop. Really unique and a place I'd definitely stop by again in warmer weather. The fellow working there was very knowledgeable and extremely helpful.
My only criticism is that the set up is very tight and looking over the beer selection (from the sample empty bottles) is a bit dizzying. But that could also be the rush I was in due to the cold.
Regardless, the help was very keen to ask about styles or brewers and expand on more than what was shown on display.
I'll be back.

Love this place. It is only about a mile from my house and I find myself up there at least once a week. There are 3 sections to the establishment. the 1st part is the lard where you can get a variety of food as well as a great selection of wine. The second part is the bar its self, with 7 rotating tap and an 8th tap reserved for Oskar Blues Brewery. The bartender told me that they drive to Athens, Ohio, about 2 1/2 hours away to get kegs from Jackie-O's brewery, that proved to me that they truly care about having a variety, but also giving their customers something that they aren't going to find anywhere near by. The third part is the bottle shop. The shop opens up to the sidewalk where you can walk up and choose from hundreds of bottles of beer to take home with you or to take in the bar with you where they will chill it for you. The bar also has a great outdoor patio with fire pits and a bocce ball court. All and all this bar is a great place with great beer and from what I hear great food.

Great bottle shop and bar with a friendly staff and delicious food. Every Thursday is Oskar Blues Hops and Heifers night and you can get a burger and pint of OB for $10. They have a bocce ball court and a really nice patio to perfect for beer sipping on a summer day.

A: nonexistant really--considering you're not really inside of anything. However, the area surrounding this place is nice--lots of stuff to see. When I was at the counter though I felt hurried; it was as if I was expected to buy something immediately or know what I wanted immediately.

Q: Everything looked a little cluttered and disorganized--it was hard to see what they had or didn't have.

S: The attendant made no effort whatsoever to be of any help to me. Every question I asked was answered condescendingly.

S: The selection was standard with some rarities thrown in--nothing stood out as extraordinary.

This place has taken my love of beer to the next level. There are several amazing things this place unique and wonderful.

For starters, they have over 670 bottles! WHOA! When I first moved into the area, I wasn't really sure what to think or try, and this is where Dutch's really goes above and beyond. Instead of waiting on me, they started making suggestions by simply asking me questions, such as "What do you like?" and then they lead me down a path which has completely transformed my pallet for beer tasting.

In doing so, this place has transformed the pallets' of my entire family. I ended up falling in love with IPA's, something that Sierra Nevada Pale Ale had always turned me off.

They have a great bar, that regularly has a different brew on it, and they are all wonderful.

My favorite story about Dutch's happened over the summer, and honestly, it has somewhat created a legend in Cincinnati. I was picking up a bottle before going to a Ray LaMontagne concert. I looked across the street, and I see a familiar face, it turns out it is the newly appointed conductor of the Cincinnati Pops. I yell, "Hey, You are the Pops Guy!" and he says, "That's Me!", well he's known around town as just that, "The Pop's Guy!". His name is John Morris Russell, and since that time we have become friends, and shared a few delicious 3 Floyd's beers there.
I am very proud of this establishment, and regularly boast of it's greatness!

Visited Dutch's on a business trip to Cincinnati. Found it through BA. Pretty cool idea for a bottle shop. They have 2 sides: One a bar/art gallery type. 8 taps with a very good selection. Had 3Floyds Alpha Klaus on tap, 21st Amendment, and several others. The other side is basically an outdoor bottle shop. You stand on the sidewalk and look at this large wall of beer. You can either buy it there to go or have them take it over to the bar for you to drink there.

The employees were very knowledgeable of the beer and were very helpful.

Would definitely visit again.

Ive been to Dutch's a couple times and have had a great experience each time. The bottle shop is a cool little streetside window with an absolutely incredible selection for a bar. All of these bottles are available to go, or to order in the bar. The bar area inside is a little small, but the area outside is large and spacious featuring many tables, fire pits, and a bocce court. The atmosphere outside really is wonderful, and if I lived closer it would be my go to place. They also are great about lists/reserving beers. If you are in the area this is a place definitely worth stopping by.

Let me begin by saying if you want an equal opportunity to get every small release beer without having to make a place your home base, go to Party Source. Dutch's is a neighborhood bar and bottle shop - and the best in the business. And while Gabe did move on to pursue other things, the great staff is still the same. They're great to everyone and take superb care of their regulars. Also, they charged the EXACT same amount for Founders CBS as the brewery did at it's release party, so you can rest assured you're getting good prices. This place is the best spot in town. Don't take my word for it; read everyone else's reviews.

they were knowledgeable, friendly and helped turn me onto some great beer. this is going to be a regular stop for me from now on.

I always stop by this place when I am in town. They have a great selection of MidWest and NorthEast brews. The staff is generally pretty knowledgeable about most things. Sometimes a few seasonals and other limited release beer are hiding out in this well-visited beer destination. The bar always has a nice selection of taps, if you were wanting to stay and drink. You can also buy bottles from the store for bar consumption.

This place is small, but the selection is rich. I would recommend making a stop at Dutch's to any beer lovers visiting Cincy.

Dutch's is a great place to get some hard to find beers. The walk up window is great and the staff always has good suggestions. The communication is great there as well. They respond to email quickly and have a nice comprehensive list of their available beers on their site.

I do not get down there as much as I wish I could but it is one of the first places I call or go to for rare or limited beers.

Unfortunately I have not been there since they remodeled so I hear it is a lot nicer with food now. It is on our short list of places to go to the next time we are in Hyde Park.

This was a destination stop for me on a trip around Cincinnati yesterday. I had heard about Dutch's and was on a search for Cantillon (which they were out of) but found a few other beers I'd been anxious to try. It is a walkup stand, kind of like a concession stand at a baseball game, but stocked with some harder to find beers. I ended up getting a Marron Acidifie, Weyerbacher Riserva, Ithaca Ten, and Ithaca Old Habit. They had at least 250 different beers to offer. They had empty bottles of each on shelves in front of the stand so you can pick them up, check labels, and check pricing. The guy at the window was helpful and answered all of our questions. The whole premise behind the store is such a good one, and very interesting. I thought it was awesome, so did my friends. I'd highly recommend this store. Don't blink or you might miss it.

This is my go to bar and bottle shop as I work right down the street! The walk up dock stocks some where around 600 different beers (that you can also order from the bar) and the bar has 8 always rotating tap handles. The space is limited but they also added a small picnic table in the wine room for extra seating. Out back is a nice sized patio, sometimes with live music, and sometimes with big sporting events projected on the adhacent wall. Ohh and a Bocce ball court too!
Although they do not have a kitchen, they often have pre cooked and then warmed catered food and will also let you bring your own food in. Order from the pizza joint next door and they may even walk it over for ya!
Friendly staff, good art work, and one of the best beer selections in the city!

Although this is a beer store and bar, I am reviewing the bar area only. The beer store selection looks great, but I didn't purchase anything.
Small bar area with eight seats at the bar and a small bench. There are three additional small round tops in front of the large window overlooking Erie Avenue. There is large patio in the back, but it was 'inside' weather during my visit. Got here at 5:15pm on a Wednesday and it was empty, but by 6:15pm all bar seats were filled.
Quality of drafts is excellent. Eight selections; Mojo Risin nitro, GD Hercules, Bell's Third Coast, Stone Smoked Porter, Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza, 21st Amend Monks Blood, Avery Joe's Pilsner, Left Hand Jr. Black Belt. And you can purchase and open any of the bottles from the attached store. They have a 'featured selection' list of bottles/cans for the bar, but you can get anything from the attached shop.
Service was attentive and friendly. The bar keep was knowledgable enough about the current and future offerings.
Selection gets dinged since there were only eight taps, but quality makes up for it.
They do offer a cheese plate, spinach artichoke dip, and bacon wrapped dates, but I didn't partake. Hyde Park Pizza is steps away and permitted inside Dutch's.
Overall, a solid laid back spot in Hyde Park. I felt like this place would be accessible to any patron with a nose for quality.

Prices resonable and on par with other places in area. Clinetelle at bar is upscale, but staff make it not stuffy. To be expected in area.
They go out of their way to get the beer you want.
Great establishment. Keep it up!
