Gordon's in Watertown is an okay place to stop if you're driving past it. The selection is a decent mix of craft brews, but nothing too spectacular. A solid shelf of bombers is offered, with a good variety of New England brews, and the standards like Dogfish Head, Rogue, Chimay, and so on. Service was okay. They were nice enough, but didn't really go out of their way to ask if you needed anything. Not a place I would go regularly, but decent if you're looking for some fairly common brews.

I agree with the last reviewer as well - the first person who reviewed this... their review reads like an ad for the store, not an objective review.

Pretty solid selection, surprised to see Trillium on the shelf. Can't buy singles from 12 packs though. But still a solid beer store.

Stopped at this location after trying the other two gordons and found the nearly sold out beer that I was looking for

The quality here is great they have a pretty well balanced selection of beer.

The service was excellent. The beer manager was in the beer section and when he noticed I was scanning the shelves for something specific he asked what I was looking for and went out back and got me the last bottle. He was also very friendly and talked about a recent tasting he was at.

They have a good beer sele toon for the us As well as a decent selection of imports, nothing absolutely unatainable but still much
Better than most stores in the area

The prices are also very reasonable and will definitely make the trip down here again

Gordon's of Watertown should be used as the blueprint for any full service liquor store of their size. They have quality wine, reasonable selection of liquor and a wonderfully selected inventory of beer, for the space that they have. I go here no less than once a week and one can always count on the inventory being fresh. The beer dude (Joe) is very passionate and knowledgeable and always willing to make a recommendation. I dare you to find a selection this diverse and exciting in a store that has such limited space. Keep it up!

So their selection is small, but what they have managed to cram into their craft beer area is very impressive.

Well organized, great selection of trappist and New England beers on the shelf, and their cold six packs were also very varied.

Staff was super friendly and helpful and not pushy. Great place to go if you're in the area and are looking for something unique.

They also have free tastings on Saturdays from 6:00 until 9:00. I was told that there is generally a theme, but if enough people ask, they will crack open some requested bottles. Maybe I can push to have them open an Angel's Share.

I stopped in here after work tonight - it's the closest place to my house. I've been a pretty decent fan of Gordon's over in Waltham, but forgot to stop there on the way home so I gave this place a shot. No one approached me, though the cashier was very friendly and made small talk.
This is a relatively small shop that is predominantly geared towards wine and alcohol. For 6 packs, they have a decent selection of cold beer. 6 Packs included Mayflower, Fort Collins, Sam Adams, Harpoon, Magic Hat, Founders, Troegs, Watchusett, Otter Creek, and more. Cold Bombers - A good selection of Berkshire Brewing, Samuel Smith, Chimay, and a few others. Their warm bomber section was a little disappointing given the amount (Waltham has a bigger selection) but what they DID have was impressive - numerous offerings from Ridgeway, Cisco Nantucket, Fort Collins, Mikkeller (I picked up a Beer Geek), Chimay, and some Belgian offerings that I haven't seen before, and didn't have a pen to write down.
This is a nice little shop that I'll revisit again.

Okay, first let me just say this (no offense to joebrewer)...if you're drinking beer you'd typically find at Stop & Shop a hidden gem like Gordon's Watertown might not be for you. You also may want to reevaluate how much time you're spending on BeerAdvocate.com? However, converts are always welcome....we've all been there.

Gordon's, like any business, relies on the strength of the people that work there. The staff at the Watertown location in general are all great...the guy you gotta look for though is Gordon's Craft Beer Manager, Nate Kruback. He spends his time bouncing around to the various Gordon's locations, but if you catch him at Watertown (hopefully you're there for their tastings on Saturday evenings) start picking his brain about some new styles of beer to try. I promise you won't be disappointed. On top of his wealth of knowledge, Nate's one of the most stand-up guys you'll meet in the industry. Just one of the many reasons that Nate and Gordon's is my #1 go to spot for beer in MA.

And in case you didn't catch it before...Angel's Share for only $30!!!! You can bet I'm goin back for more!

NOTE: BIASED REVIEW FOLLOWS

Gordon's in Watertown, will be known as the store that introduced me to craft beer. I was a Tremont guy a long time ago, then a Sierra Nevada fan, then a Dogfish fan...then I stumbled into Gordon's one Saturday night. I've been back every weekend since, my cellar's overflowing, and I'm trying to come to grips with my problem...

Seriously, the Saturday night tastings have turned me into a beer geek. The staff go to good lengths to make the tastings interesting and diverse. They are beer geeks themselves, whose abiding interest in beer is more than enough to get one to try something new and broaden the palate. As I mentioned above, this review is biased, but I feel it's just reward to the store that got me started.

Selection? I haven't been around enough to have a good measure, but there's always something new to try, so it works for me.

Keep it up!

For a quick pickup this place does pretty well. Decent selection of craft beers - some that are either unavailable nearby or others for which price is a concern. The usual suspects - Ommegang, Southern Tier, Rochefort, etc. but some good finds - Southampton Saison Deluxe, for example. A couple things run $1-2 cheaper than other establishments. I don't really utilize the service here - they're usually behind the counter but that's fine - what they have they have and if it's good and reasonable I'll buy it. Convenient location.

The previous post seems like an ad for Gordon's.
Good for them though, as I've tried to get better beer stores on here and failed.

I've been to this store and it's nothing out of the ordinary. These days every liquor store of this size (maybe 6-7000 sf) has a reasonable selection of the larger craft breweries. I didn't see anything that struck me as unusual. If you are driving here, instead hit on of the other liquor stores within a couple of miles.

I think that Stop and Shop even carries a similar collection as this store for six packs, maybe Gordon's has a better large bottle selection.
