I picked up a bottle of HopCat's Beer Right Meow at Boyne Country Provisions. I've been to Hop Cat before, but I don't think I've tried any of there house brewed beers and I'm interested to see how it turns out, so lets see how it goes. 2016 Vintage. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle int a IPA glass.

A- The label looks nice, it's got a nice design to it and it's a little eye catching. IT poured a golden orange color that took on more of a golden color when held to the light with a finger and half worth of slightly tan head that was slightly creamy and slightly bubbly and died down to a thin ring that eventually faded away and it left a little bit of spotty lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and they impart a mixture of citrus and green hop aromas with the citrus rinds sticking out the most by a little bit and there's a generic hop aroma showing up in the background. Up next comes a little bit of fruitiness that's followed by the malts which impart a sweet malt, doughy and lightly toasted malts aromas. This beer has a pretty nice aroma and it's pretty much what I would expect from the style.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a higher amount of medium sweetness with the hops being the first to show up and they impart the same same aspects that they did in the aroma, but this time there's more generic hop aspects and it goes right into a little bit of doughy yeast. Up next comes the malts which impart all the same aspects that they did in the aroma. On the finish there's a higher amount of medium bitterness with some more sweetness and it has a green hop and generic hop aftertaste. This is a nice tasting beer and it's solid for the style, but it isn't too memorable.

M- Fairly smooth, a little crisp, a little clean, on the full side of being medium bodied with a medium amount of carbonation. The mouthfeel is pretty nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this was a decent beer and and pretty close to average for the style, but nothing really stuck out about and it just tasted like an IPA I've had many time before from many different breweries. This beer didn't have the best drinkability, one is enough for me, anymore than that and it would start to wear on me. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance, aroma and mouthfeel, they were the highlights of this beer. What I liked the least about this beer is the taste, it was just pretty close to average for the style and not much stuck out about it. I wouldn't buy this beer again, but I might not turn it down and I can't say I highly recommend it either. All in all This beer wasn't bad, but it didn't have what it takes to be a memorable IPA. It didn't make for the best first impression for the brewery and it;'s just a little above average for the style. Better luck next time guys, this one could use a little work.
