Enjoyed at the brewpub, a newer addition. Very hoppy IPA, also a mild hop aroma. Alcohol is there, this one is a bit aggressive on the palate. Off-white head, lacey after, amberish body. Still nicely drinkable, about average for the style, which is not a bad thing.
Had again a couple years later by the new brew team and was very hoppy rather green.

On tap @ The HopCat (Grand Rapids, MI) on 4/22/10. Served in a tulip glass.

Pours a crystal clear copper, with a thin covering of bright-white foamy head. Solid retention here that leaves a nice frothy cascade of lacing down the sides of the glass. The aroma is fairly hoppy overall, being floral, spicy, a bit dank, and with a touch of pine thrown in for good measure. A good bit of sticky tropical fruit character, with notes of mango, pineapple, grapefruit, mixes with sweet and maltier tones of toast and cracker to form a tangy backing balance in the nose.

The hops in the taste are mostly spicy and earthy, with a bit of resinous edge to them. Tropical fruits and caramel character gives this a LOT of balancing sweetness, while grainy and bready malts underneath provide a firm base that helps prop the flavors up. DEEP dry spicy finale on this that really dries the mouth out after each sip. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, being more creamy and slick up front, before getting much more shaper towards the back of the swallow. This feels pretty spot on for 7%. There's some alcohol beefiness to the feel but non whatsoever in the taste. Nice.

Good look and feel here for an IPA but the overall taste came off as a bit more sweet than I would have liked and the hop profile that was present was more on the spicier and gritty side. Decent effort here that will hopefully continue to evolve with future batches.

This is a light golden yellow. I pick up an aroma of sharp pine, followed by citrus and floral scents. It’s full of piney flavors, with a big chewy resiny finish that doesn’t quit. Definitely an IPA and a good one—in the spirit of a West Coast hop bomb. It has chew, heft, gravity and full flavor.

sampled on tap at hopcat jan 23/2010 as part of their 2nd annual extreme beer fest. ABV listed as 7.1%

pours clear deep orangey amber with a small fluffy white head. the head drops fairly fast with lots of spotty lace.

aroma is nice. fruity, making me think more of an english ale than an american one. light citrus. bit of resiny pine. grapefruit and orange. cracker and white bread. light biscuit. light alcohol.

taste is good. resiny pine and grapefruit. a bit powdery too. light orange. bit of alcohol. just under medium bitterness level. white bread with a slight toasting. cracker and biscuit. there's a hint of fruit, but nowhere near as much as i got in the aroma. now there's no way you'd be mistaking this for anything but an american ipa.

mouthfeel is good. just under medium body. medium carbonation level.

drinkability is nice. good balance. a nice american ipa.

Enjoyed at the Brewpub by me about 12 hours ago. Poured into a clean, clear pint glass.

A Opaque brown yellow body under a creamy but minimal head. 3.5

S Citrus malt, candy sweet, some hops. Nice, balanced beer smell and one that I like very much. 4.0

T Citrus, hops, sweet malt carry right over into the taste of this very good beer. Hops stayed late into the aftertaste as well. 4.5

M Full with hops, sugar sweetness. 4.0

D Really good drinkability. I found the bottom of my pint glass very quickly indeed and that can be dangerous at 7% ABV. 4.5

Notes: A treat to have this well crafted beer at the brewpub today.

Had on tap at Hopcat the night before the CBS release. Served in an imperial pint glass.

A: Pours a dark amber with some lighter orange hues around the edges. Frothy white head forms on the pour and leaves a nice sticky lace down the glass.

S: Nice tropical fruits with some grapefruit. Some grass and some pine shine in there as well with a bready malt backbone.

T: The bread malt starts to take over a little bit for me in the taste, but it is still decent with the bitter hops in the middle with a light fruit rind. Finishes rather sweet.

M: Creamy and smooth with a nice carbonation. Leaves a nice fruitiness on the palate.

O: The taste was a little malty for me, but I did enjoy this beer and solid offering by Hopcat.

Served on tap at the pub in Grand Rapids. Served in a nonic glass cool.

Pours a clear amber gem body and an off white thick head.

Fruity floral and sweet body. Taste is very similar with a profound floral herb flavor. Medium body and steady carbonation. Okay beer. Not great. Not very good representation of the style.

On tap at Hopcat, reviewed from notes.

Poured into a tulip glass. Served with a 2 finger fluffy white head that receded quickly leaving spotty lace behind. The body is a yellow/orange color with amber highlights (or is it lowlights).

The nose has citrus hops up front on a sweet, malty backbone.

Flavors are similar to the nose. The hops are a little more bitter than the aromas suggest. Piney and bready.

The mouth feel is light-medium, slightly oily with good carbonation.

This is a very drinkable brew. Worth taking down if you are at Hopcat.
