Since moving to St-Jean-sur-Richelieu I had been driving into Montreal to buy my ingredients for brewing days. 50 plus km, and not always stocked with what I needed drove me to look for another place closer to home. That's when I found Atelier Bière et Vin on the south shore of Montreal.
As you walk in you immediately notice the order and open athmosphere. No real decor, who cares, just a lot of equipment, ingredients and extras for both beer and wine making. All ingredients are well laid out, and the quality and variety is pretty good. Last time I went in I talked to the owner and he assured me he had secured enough hops for the year but let me know there would be a major price increase. Good selection of both dried and liquid yeasts (note: only Wyeast in liquid) and always seems to have plenty of varieties in stock.
My only major complaint is with the service. If you don't already have a solid understanding of how to brew, the staff will be of little help as they know next to nothing about it. As well I often see them idling aimlessly in the shop as customers mill their own grain and bottle their own water... Seems to me if you are paying people to tend to a shop they should not twittle their thumbs, but tend to the shop and its customers.
Overall, however, I am very glad to have them close by with such a nice stock and reasonable prices. Encourages me to brew.

Nice, organized and clean store. Good selection in their homebrewing section with all grain outshining extract kits. The girl i spoke with seemed very knowledgeable. She walked me through the process from A-Z and answered every question i had. Too bad it`s a bit far from where i live.
