This cements the series as among the best barleywines ever produced by acclamation. 2011 version, very fresh tasting. Tabaco has mellowed to where it adds overt but not detracting flavour.

Barley wine aged on Kentucky tobacco then aged in Kentucky whiskey barrels.
2014 vintage enjoyed in february 2020
Viscous and still pour for this 14% ABV barley wine.
I wasn't expecting much from the tobacco but actually it was there all along, but so finely balanced it was divine.
The mouthfeel is thick and completely uncarbonated. The taste is complex with the tobacco, some barrel notes, a bit of leather and toffee, quite complex but always balanced.
A great beer to share.

2014 Vintage. Slightly hazy reddish brown color, no foam. Aroma has liquorice, molasses, cacao, walnut liquor and wood notes. Taste is woody with smoked plums, spicy liquor, walnut skin and light earthy bitterness on the finish.

Bottle: Poured a murky brown color ale with a light bubbly head with limited retention and no lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with super nice barrel-aged notes of bourbon, light vanilla and some woody notes. Taste is a wonderful mix of caramelized malt with light dry raisins notes, some woody notes, some vanilla and bourbon notes are also apparent. Body is about average with limited carbonation and surprisingly very little apparent alcohol notes. Great work by Baladin with loads of complexities while retaining some very good drinkability.

Given the beer, there is of course no head. The nose is very port-like, with red grape and prune, accompanied by a distinctly non-fruity scent, which I assume is the tobacco.
Flavour is similar, with the port flavour taking a back seat to a slightly harsh, slightly bitter flavour. That side of the beer is a bit distracting and I would prefer it was dialed back. Mouthfeel is heavy and sticky.

Bottles shared at home. Basically a marsala with some hints of beer, nothing more nothing less. Mogany deep red-ish color, no head. Smell is sweet, deep and oaky. Taste is straight marsala to me, little bitterness thst tells you "hey i'm a beer". No carbonarion, oily liquor feel.
Shared it with at least 3 peaople, this is an extreme beer and maybe a must try.
