This is how we make... Blonde Ale

This beer has a deep yellow color, a very subtle hazy appearance and a white, fine, persistent head. Its delicate scents are a perfect example of balance between the fruity, herbaceous and malty components, and give it a light aroma that invites you to drink.

A sip of Nazionale reveals a little masterpiece of connections between individual tastes. Its notes of chamomile and citrus fruits, balanced out by the gentle bitterness of Italian hops - grown and harvested on Baladin’s own hop fields - make it simply complex. A clean beer that is easy to drink and will satisfy those who want to drink well, with no compromise.

100% ITALIAN CRAFT BEER

Appearance:  From a delightfully unique shaped bottle into a glass at an Italian restaurant in NYC. The bottle has a small but fun and artsy label. Pours a slightly hazy deep yellow gold. Minimal foam, but the leftover little bubbles did cling a little bit.

Aroma and Taste:  Light grains with cloves and coriander. White bread and yeast. Fruity esters. All very well balanced and pleasant.

Feel:  Creamy, medium body with good carbonation. A little bit of dryness.

Overall:   Very well balanced in flavor and feel. Calling it a blonde ale is definitely a little odd though.

Pairing: The beer was predictably not matched well with a red sauce Italian pasta dish, but it wasn't necessarily a bad paring either. A white sauce or olive oil pasta entree would likely be perfect.

From a bottle with a stamp of 099/220-5. Sampled April 30, 2023.

The pour is a slight cloudy orange-amber under a long lasting white foamy head. Lots of lacing.

On the nose, I get biscuits, apricot, yeast, but mainly coriander and Belgian spices.

Soft medium mouthfeel.

The taste is sweet and bready with a nice dose of herbs at the end. Reasonably clean finish. Fairly easy to drink if you like those spices.

Light golden color to the body, clear; great carbonation; thick, white, sudsy head. Nice woody and herbal aroma, sage and oregano; lemony at times. Taste follows the nose; light malt presence; spicy; light overall bitterness. Medium-light mouthfeel; crisp.

An interesting beer featuring intriguing light malt and spicy character. The beer really opened up as it warmed.

1/28/22 - light gold slightly hazy at first, clear later on (The haziness may be due to carbonation), head is a white cap, lacy; A mild good beer smell, maybe a little sweet; tasty but not outstanding; Good mouthfeel, decent carbonation. Not bad..

This may be my first Italian beer. I bought one bottle on its appearance. Its price was not marked. the receipt said $4.79. Overpriced..

Pours a hazy golden yellow, brief 1.5" champagne head that settles after a few seconds to a thin ring, no lacing. Nose is very yeasty - sweet fermented dough, light stone fruit (apricot), lots of hop spice, even some muskier pine; as it warms, some sharper, sweeter aromas kick in that really remind me of champagne. Taste is very yeast forward - fruity, estery, boozy, and vinous - with a healthy amount of black pepper and coriander. Carbonation is crisp, though it drinks a bit oily, and despite the moderate ABV suggests some heat on the finish. Overall, prefer others within the style.

Birrificio Baladin "Nazionale"
33 cl brown glass bottle, "Da consumarsi preferibilimente intro fine: 02/2020 004/180-5"

Look: Hazy golden body beneath a massive head of white. Excellent head retention and lacing.
Smell: Sweet malt, yeast, floral and spicy hops.
Taste: Rich and full with sweet and grainy malt, floral and spicy hops, and a mild bitterness. Slightly honeyish with a semi-dry finish as the malt fades leaving hoppy spiciness behind.
Feel: Medium bodied with a fine-bubbled natural carbonation that's gently effervescent, bristling, and then airy and smooth.
Overall: A basic golden ale, but one that's bottle conditioned with an interesting yeast character and wonderful mouthfeel and lacing.

750 ml bottle, Cardinal Pub & Bar, Stavanger. ABV is 6.5%. Pale golden colour, slightly hazy, huge white head. Very yeasty and very spicy aroma, strong notes of coriander and cloves. Very dry flavour, very yeasty and very spicy again. As I am not Italian, Teo Musso & Co. will have to forgive me for not being emotional about all ingredients being Italian home grown. A drinkable beer of course, just not Baladin’s best.
