12 oz. can poured into pilsener
L: gold, clear, almost no head, just a thin skin of white foam, keeps a tight collar and quarter skin; nothing to stick, no lacing
S: grain, sour grain, medicinal; as it warms, offers up a slight bit of malt sweetness, cracker malt
T: grain bomb ... lots of good grain flavor, corn, rice ... cracker malt; turns a bit medicinal quickly; slight black pepper hop bite, earthy, dirt-hop flavor also medicinal; as it warms, a bit more malt flavor kicks in, still cracker-malt level, nowhere near the sweet bread malt
F: middleweight and crisp, enough carbonation to be sharp on the tongue
O: I expected a bit more from Southern Star, a brewery that generally sides on excess flavor vs. keeping restrained inside a style's parameters; this one is well inside the lines of what one can find in the German pilsener style, and it's not bad, but it's also lacking the pop of a good pils and on both sides, the malt and hops; I still love the brewery and will continue to try their new stuff, but one 6-pack of this particular beer is plenty

Clear light yellow gold color with white cap and lacing.
Aroma of sweet malt and new mown hay.
Taste is a somewhat simple combination of malt with floral, spicy hops. These are good flavors well intertwined consisting mostly of bready malt with light yeasty touches all sprinkled with hop spicing.
Light-medium texture with balancing carbonation.
Overall it's a good stab at the Pilsner style incorporating spicy, floral hops into a solid malt base. Should make a good companion for food and other purposes.

It looks like a Pilsner. That’s where things go south. I’ve had (many) pilsners and this doesn’t taste even remotely like any German Pilsner I’ve ever had. It tastes really out of balance and just wrong. The malt comes through weak and the hop profile is just weird. Beer is subjective and maybe you’ll taste it differently. Buy a single just in case. Sure glad I only bought one.

Spring Pils has a thick, white head, a hazy, yellow-gold, bubbly appearance, with lots of powdery sediment and noticeable glass lacing. Aroma is of sweet biscuit and grass. Taste is of those elements, with a bit of yeast and good, pleasant bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium, and Spring Pils finishes crisp and highly refreshing.

Great Pilsner. Beer pours very slightly cloudy straw yellow with a nice fluffy white head. Doesn't last too long. Nose is grassy hops with a slight touch of pine and bready malt. Taste follows. Nice bready malts, biscuit, grassy hops, faint touch of pine. Clean, crisp finish. Really impressed.

Slightly hazy straw pour with white head. Aroma is mostly bready malt. Tastes more like a Helles than a Pils because of a dominating slightly caramelly malt and restrained bittering hops. I like this beer even though it's not what I expect in a German-style pilsner beer. But is somewhat reminiscent of Pilsner Urquell when it is really fresh, albeit without the hops bitterness.

This pours a very clear bright golden color with a decent bleached white head that settles very quickly with little to no lacing down the glass.
The nose is sweet malt, grass, with a touch of pine and some white pepper. Subtle tones and hard to detect.
The mouthfeel is a light and smooth: Not too watery.
Overall a very drinkable and satisfying beer after a day of 100+ degree heat on the beach all day.
