Poured from a 16oz can into a 20oz imperial pint glass.

A: Pours a hazy, orangey-amber color capped by a creamy, khaki-colored, 2 1/4 finger head that has decent retention and leaves some drooping ropes of lace in the glass.

S: Aromas of pine, grapefruit, caramel malt, orange, toasted malt, and mildly roasted nuts.

T: Lots of pine and grapefruit with an interesting buttery caramel/toffee flavor that leads into more pine and some floral hops.

M: Bitter, spicy hops that receive some balancing help from the sweet and toasty malt. This finishes pretty prickly and peppery. Very nice.

D: A very pleasant surprise and quite pleasurable to drink. I liked its' peppery hoppiness and sweet malt goodness. More canned beer from Southern Star, please.

Look: Nice and dark for a pale ale. Good firm foamy head; lasts awhile.
Smell: Refreshing, piney; like being in the East Texas woodlands
Taste: Just simply delicious. I love this ale.
Feel: Just right; not watery but not viscous either.
Overall: I love this ale. This and Southern Star's Buried Hatchet Stout are always in my fridge!

12oz.can poured into a Spiegelau ipa glass.
Very copperish in color and hazy.
Smells yeasty and malty and maybe grassy.
Pretty malty with some pine and grassy, floral. Not too hoppy.
Smooth feel. Not watery at all. Will have again.
I really like this beer. Easy drinking.

A little darker than your average pale ale, forays into auburn and light brown territory. 1/3" head, off white. Hits some decent hoppy notes, I think I'm picking up Nuggets.

The appearance gives away the excessive use of crystal malt, this is a heavier malt ipa, still has its bitterness. This one really straddles the line between pale and brown malts it would seem.

Nonetheless, tallboy can, still a fun beer.

Poured from can into a New Belgium tulip. Nice 2 finger tan cream colored head. Sticks around for a while. Hazy copper color that cannot be seen thru. Smells of malt, slight floral and a little pine coming thru. ok they sell this as an aggressive hop bitterness, but not picking that up. This is more of a malt forward beer, and that is fine. Very smooth drinking. I find this very well balanced. I guess my taste buds have changed since I had this last about a year ago. I don't remember caring much for it, but I think I am changing my mind. There is some caramel type sweetness coming thru. Nice beer, this is one that could get you in trouble as it hides it's ABV quite well. Nice mouthfeel, will not thing twice about getting this one again

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Golden brown color with a pleasant clean slightly floral smell. Thin head with decent lacing. Nice crisp well balanced taste. I will get this beer again.
