This was another gift from my son in Texas. Very interesting can design, with strange x-ray vision coming out of a double set of eyes from a gent with a 1890's handle bar mustache and attire standing in front of some striped tents. I love to know the story behind that design! Anyway on to the beer - this farmhouse ale pours a cloudy golden color with an off-white head, which slowly dissipates while being consumed. The first sip brings the sweet - sour taste of the farmhouse, backed by a mild hop bitterness. Refreshing finish with a lingering sour taste, but nothing unpleasant. Good representation of the style.

A: 4.25 - Light orange gold color, hazy, with a thick head over a cm tall, persistent. Great lacing.
S: 4.0 - Nicely fruity, with peppery, bandaid-like clove notes, touch of tartness.
T: 4.0 - Initial bitterness (not too much hop flavor) gives way to a soft yeasty fruitiness. Phenols less present than I expected, but add a little bit of a clovey note at the end, where the malt leaves a touch of creamy sweetness.
M: 3.5 - Thin, watery. Could use more carbonation.
O: 3.75 - Decent effort from Southern Star, though there are much better saisons.

Cloudy golden pour with a minimal white head. Really nice sour smell with just a bit of yeast and clove. Taste is really nice with lots of yeast and spicy upfront. There’s also a good mildly tart lemon presence that lingers through from start to finish. Finish with a slightly tart citrus flavor.
