Never had a 'bier de garden' and then this blew my mind. Wonderful color, aroma and flavor. So drinkable.

Pours a hazy copper color with a tight, off-white head that leaves little to no lacing.

Smells of toasted malt and some fruit.

Tastes of the toasted malt coupled with some sweetness and fruit. Malts lead off with notes of caramel, toffee, and toasted bread with moderate sweetness. This gives way to some cherries and a bit of apple. Some herbal notes come next and round everything out. Finishes with a little bit of lingering sweetness.

Mouthfeel is medium-light with an underwhelming amount of carbonation.

Overall, this is a solid biere de garde.

Appearance: Hazy orange-brown in color, with a small, dense white head, which slowly fades to a scattering on the surface. Thin, broken lacing lines the glass walls.

Aroma: Caramel dominates the aroma, there are mild notes of sweet apple as well.

Taste: Begins with caramel and tea-like notes, these carry throughout the taste. Mild apple rind is notable later in the taste. Later in the taste there are some complex earthy flavors from the yeast, which bring the taste to a lingering close. The early high ABV (6.55%) is not in evidence.

Mouth fee: Smooth, soft feel, full, with almost no carbonation to note.

Drinkability/notes: Disappointing, compared to other examples of the style. Oro De Calabaza and Scratchin' Hippo from Adelbert's are far better. I had high hopes for Le Mort Vivant after trying the quite good Walloon Saison.

Presentation: Packaged in a twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.
