Picked this up for the CF art on the bottle, the fact there was beer inside was merely a bonus. $8 for a crock o' beer ain't bad.

It meekly trickles from the crock, forming a thin head on the surface, with a nested cluster of larger bubbles sitting in the center. Clarity is bright, carbonation is visibly brisk. Minimal spotty lace.

Aroma is first musty and somewhat oxidized. Later there's a malt sweetness with a hint of orange peel, slight cooked vegetable DMS.

Malty with papery oxidation, light sweetness, floral soapy botanicals, flabby feel as the carb soon ebbs. Medium bodied, grainy and bready. Overall it's probably aged too long, the flavors are dull and muted, though traditionally a Biere De Garde can be kept for a couple years.

From a large ceramic flip top bottle, neat looking.

Pours a golden orange color, no head, very little carbonation action, no lacing.

Smell has a very sweet aroma, very honey mead like, no real hop presence.

Taste is similar to the aroma with the sweet malt dominating, still picking up honey, very one note with the sweetness, carbonation is essentially nonexistent and flat, body is also quite thin where carbonation might have helped, slight alcohol presence in the aftertaste.

What a bottle! Very odd, but fitting for a unique brew.

Gold amber with no head.

Much like a spiced fruit beer, this smells almost like apple cider, or maybe a mead as others have said.

Taste is tangy, pungent, spoiled apple with a lager-like breadiness.

Glad this bottle wasn't mine, I'm not sure what to think of it.

Consumed April 3rd, 2015. Poured from a swing top bottle.

Beer is a clear coppery color, more golden than brass. A one-finger off-white head forms after a pretty vigorous pour and disappears before I get to the bottom of the tulip glass.

Aroma is proper for style: toasty malt. There is also a strong honey note that takes over as the beer warms a bit. Very nice.

Flavor is complex: slightly sweet with honey, toasted malt, peach, pear and white grape notes. Slightly bitter at finish.

Beer is moderately dry on the palate and medium-bodied.

Two years was kind to this beer. I enjoyed it and would enthusiastically urge the brewers to bring it back.

Thanks to GRG1313 for sharing this one at his tasting.

Pours a hazy honey orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Tiny dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, honey, fruit, and slight cardboard aromas. Taste is much the same with honey, fruit, and slight cardboard flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that seems a bit oxidized in the smell and taste.

Serving type: bottle.
