Notes / Commercial Description:
American Muscle – 666 Horsepower Double Pale Ale is massive hop bomb brewed for America by Americans in America. Aggressively late kettle and dry hopped with four quintessential varietals of American hops; this beer is built like houses used to be. A strong malt backbone balances a rich, pungent palate of citrus fruit with floral and earthy notes. No adjuncts or extracts of any type were used in this beer.

Served in a snifter at Local Option.

There should be a speech bubble in the bird's mouth spouting a gruff "Get some!" Maybe it's just me... Anyway, this stuff pours a lightly hazy sunset amber topped by a half-finger of off-white foam. The nose comprises grapefruit zest, light leek, orange zest, light honey, and very light caramel. The taste holds notes of orange zest, grapefruit peel, pine resin, light caramel, very light honey, and a touch of booze. The body is a light-ish medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda dry finish. Overall, a generally solid, if a tad unbalanced and boozy, DIPA.

Had on tap last night at the brewery, pretty sure this is a new one as I've never seen it on tap before.
A- This is a very pretty beer. A very clear dark orange color with some sticky lace and a surprising head that sticks around for a good minute considering the abv

S- Heavy grapefruit up front with a little bit of orange and some underlying sweet malt. Very little alcohol presence.

T- Seems to follow the nose. Starts with a big grapefruit punch, though not that bitter and finish's with some sweet malt. Even less alcohol than nose would suggest, incredibly smooth and drinkable considering the 14%.

M- Very sticky in a good way. Fairly heavy carbonation that works pretty well with this beer. Again very smooth for such a big dipa.

O- Its nice to see a big hop bomb come out of the DH. I like Double Crooked, but I would take this over Double Crooked all day. Very drinkable and very dangerous, hope this becomes at least a rotating regular.
