Good beer, well worked. It follows the standard of the style, of balanced way. To me too balanced. It is a beer without excesses, it is not contentious. Yes that is a good beer that allows to enjoy the style and a good beer time

Look: black with an inch thick mocca colored head

Aroma: roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla

Taste: The flavor is roasted malts, chocolate, coffee and vanilla, hardly a hint of the alcohol.

Body/Overall: The body is perhaps a bit thin for an Imperial Stout but it is very drinkable.

Splurged on my last night in Maastricht and had a 0.33l bottle of this for €7.60 at de Gouverneur.

Was a jet black, oily, opaque brew. Had a very thin beige head, mostly just rim-clinging foam, and with minimal lacing. Had a lovely aroma, with choco, roasty coffee and rich, dark fruit. Had a medium body and was quite smooth, though I wish it was more thick and chewy.

Tasted some semi-sweetness, with more roasty coffee and bitter, dark chocolate and espresso. Also found some dark fruit and a hint of licorice. Not as complex as I like a Russian Imperial, but still solid. Prosit!!

660 ml bottle, best before end August 2018. Served in a snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about an inch and a half tan head that stayed around a while. There's also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, Rooibos tea, dark fruit, coffee, and some smokiness. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's the addition of some dark bread, molasses, and a bit of licorice. Mouthfeel/body is medium/full, it's slick and smooth with a moderate amount of carbonation. The 11% ABV is well hidden. I thought this was a pretty good brew, the addition of the Rooibos worked well with the stout. Definitely worth picking up, I know I wouldn't mind trying it again in the future. $14.49 a bottle.

660 ml bottle wrapped in thick navy blue paper with a Best Before date September 2018

Pours a pitch black color that appears thin. A frothy dark tan head crowns the beer. Smells of chocolate and roasted malts dominate the nose. First sip is super thin. A roasty bitterness compromise the majority of the flavor. The 11% ABV is well hidden. As it warms, this beauty just gets better and better. A high quality ris indeed.

Ratebeer tasting at Dick's. Thanks Andy. Dark brown body with a small beige cap. Aromas of earth, malt, roast, brown sugar, light oxidation. Mild sweetness. Pretty good.

$16.99 for a 22oz bottle.

L: Deep rocky head, tan color
S: roasted/burnt malt, Belgian yeast
T: incredibly rich, deep malty character
F: follows from the taste with deep rich malt backbone

Overall: I've never had a bad beer from this brewery. Highly recommended.

Got this one at De Bierkoning in Amsterdam.

From a bottle into a snifter
Best Before August 2018

APPEARANCE: A clear dark brown pour yields a big, four finger, looser, creamy, light brown head with great retention. Black body with medium levels of carbonation. Head fades to a full foamy cap and coats the sides of the glass. A splotchy cap remains and leaves some foamy lacing. A little light bodied and foamy for the style.

SMELL: Roasted malts, cacao, licorice, some caramel and a touch of leather. Some slight notes of wet cardboard underneath as well, which is alarming.

TASTE: Leather, roasted flavors and some wet cardboard up front. Definitely oxidized. Some alcohol at the swallow into a bolder and lingering finish of roasted notes, bitter coffee, some light sourness and unmistakable wet cardboard, which is probably oxidization. Very unfortunate.

PALATE: Medium body and medium levels of carbonation. Creamy enough on the palate, goes down with a good bite and finishes a bit dry. Alcohol lingers.

OVERALL: I'd expect an oxidized beer to be more highly carbonated in the feel, but it's certainly foamy and unpleasant. Only drank half of this and drained the rest. I've been quite happy with the stuff I've picked up from these guys and will continue to do so, of course. Was disappointed this one turned out so lousy, especially since other people have been rather positive about this beer.

Shared bottle at Nuetnigenough in Brussels.

Pours jet black, low, dense foam.

Smell is chocolatey with some coffee and vanilla.

Taste is smooth and full of roasted coffee, chocolate and some oaky vanilla.

Mouthfeel is medium, maybe a bit too thin.

Overall, a very good stout, maybe a bit on the thin side.

660 ml bottle into snifter, best before 8/2018. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 1-2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, herbal tea, wood, licorice, plum, berry, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great complexity and balance of roast/bready malt, herbal spice, and light-moderate fruity yeast notes; with great strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, herbal tea, wood, licorice, plum, berry, light smoke/char, and herbal/roasted earthiness. Fair amount of herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, toast, dark bread, wood, licorice, plum, berry, and herbal/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malts, herbal spice, and light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; with a great roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome Belgian Russian imperial stout style. All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of roast/bready malt, herbal spice, light-moderate fruity yeast flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the huge ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
