This pils is an active clear, bright dark gold color. It develops a pure white head on top right over a finger tall that sticks around, surprisingly dense and rocky, and leaves good lacing as it falls.
Some grains and a red grape note set the tone, an interesting pils with a touch of floral and citrus, extremely light on the hops but they are present, with a balance of malts to complement. Even for a light style, just a little more strength would do.
The taste follows suit pretty well, the light grape notes with an unoffensive foundational grains note balancing with something a little dryer in the malts and a little brighter in a citrus note, but with a leafy, herbal element coming out on the end.
The body is as light as expected but not boring, even veering toward medium almost, with a semi-dry feel as, rather than clashing, somehow a dryness mingles with the sweeter, maltier elements. It's consistently crisp and has a nice underlying smoothness as well.

This poured a clean golden tan color with creamy foam. There was a honeyed sweet aroma on it, followed by a faded honeyed hop flavor with light bitterness. Not very tasty. Even going from ice cold serving temps to slightly warming a stale cereal malt flavor (“like bad Coors”) dominated. Pour or pass on this.

A: Poured into a Hobrau stein glass. Appears a clear golden color with a huge white head that exhibits good retention. Looks quite nice.

S: Smells like some sweet pale malt with some herbal noble hop aromas. Kind of unexciting.

T: Initial wave of honey-like sweetness, some clean grain, and a nice herbal hop flavor that finishes dry with some lingering herbal sweetness. Very simple but I like it.

M: Light to medium body with good carbonation.

O: A very nice and simple lager. I'd pick this up again for $2 per 500ml bottle. I'd love to have this with some kielbasa or stuffed cabbage with mustard, kraut and potatoes.

Part of a new series titled "Reaper Does Blind Tastings of Assorted Pale Lagers."

12oz. bottle served into a pint glass

Pours a darker yellow than the other pilsners of the night. This beer pours more of a dark goldenrod, almost like a Dijon mustard color. Not much foam, but whatevs.

I'm finding out after the fact that this is a Czech pils. It certainly doesn't smell or taste like one. This beer smells almost entirely of malts. I thought it was a bock at first, what with its soft grape bubblegum aromas and significant breadiness. It's like a diet malt liquor in some ways. Totally not style-appropriate, but potentially interesting.

The flavor departs quite significantly from the nose. It's still malt-heavy upfront, with lots of musty, dusty pils malt. Very little ester on the palate. The finish proves that, yes, there are hops in this Czech pils after all: a bracing metallic bitterness attacks the whole tongue. It is unpleasantly metallic, like eating rust.

The mouthfeel is standard-issue for the style. If you're worrying that the body would be syrup-thick since the malts are so strong on the nose and tongue then fret not; it's still a thin-bodied beer. Overall, this is not a good pils. It is way, way too malt-forward, especially for a pilsner in the Czech tradition. What a weird beer.

Appearance - Pours a clear, dark golden color with an inch and a half thick, fluffy white head that dissipates pretty quickly.

Smell - Very skunky. When I first opened the bottle I smelled it from about 2 feet away lol. Grassy and smells like sourdough.

Taste - The taste is similar. Pretty bitter with a skunky flavor to it. Has sweet malts. Not much else I can point out about it..

Mouthfeel - Light bodied with light carbonation.

Overall - Not a bad beer for what it is, just not my favorite style, but I can't knock it.

A - Clear light honey, Tons of stark white head, slow to leave. Lots of cling.

S - I think my favorite part. Yeasty, bready, fresh and bright. I LOVE the smell on this one.

T - Nice malt clean center, small but appropriate hops.

M - Light body, good balance and carb.

D - Very easy to drink.

A- Looks like your typical chzech style lager. Nothing too special, but doesn't look ominous, either.

S- Nice. Very much what I was expecting.

T- Very good flavor. I would definitely order this if I found it at a bar. Very similar to Urquell and i mean that as a sincere complement.

M- Fantastic. Again, second only to Urquell.

O- Excellent pilsner that I can only imagine would be better in Prague.

Look: Yellow with a trace of orange throughout. Hard pour yields a 1 inch white head and some spotty lacing

Smell: Grass and bread

Taste: Candy sweetnees from the malt and not much else going on. Just ok

Mouthfeel: Light body and high carbonation

Overall: Not a fan of the style but still ok

The brew pours a super-translucent golden hue and is capped with a modicum of white wispy head. The nose is herbal and a bit grassy, and has a mineral-metallic note underlying. There's also a soft powdery note in the aroma. The flavor is quite grainy and slightly sweet; it is mostly pleasant, but gets a bit of rankness on the finish. Feel-wise, it is lighter than medium and softly carbonated; pretty good overall. Though it is decent, it is definitely not a top-tier Czech Pils; I'd take, say, Staropromen over this any day of the week.

Poured into a hefeweizen glass. No best by or bottled date on bottle.

A: Classic Czech pils appearance, not as pale as a German, more on the amber/golden side. Huge bubbles here, massive head that stays 'til the last drop. Excellent.

S: Fresh out of the oven bread. This is as close to fresh bread aroma in a beer that I've ever had. Can smell the spicy hops in the background, too.

T: Spicy, lemon/weak grapefruit-like hops, bready malts, a touch of honey sweetness. Hits all the pilsener notes well.

M: Very quaffable, a hook it up to my veins type of beer.

O: A great Euro pilsener that somehow manages to beat out the local made ones despite coming from across the world, in who knows what kind of conditions.

Not amazing, but solid enjoy and great session/gateway
brew for newbies.

PRETTY GOOD, BUT NOT A MUST HAVE!

A: Golden clear with average head retention and lacing.

S: Grassy notes right off the bat. Not hoppy...as it should be.

T: Well OK. It should be hoppier. It is smooth and has a grassiness many good pilseners and lagers do. More than a hint though. Dominant grassiness which is a tad off. Medium bitterness up front but no hop flavor as should be in a pils. Malt flavors are more dominant.

M: Medium mouthfeel.

O: A bit disappointing. Missing is the hopiness of a true Czech pils. Your average German Pils has more. Fairly smooth but a bit more grassiness that there should be.

Czech Rebel pours a dark golden color with a thin cap of foam above. The aroma is green apple and pale biscuit-like malt. Grainy pale malt greets the taste buds. A slight sweetness through the center as bitterness moves in. Finishes with a snap. This is a clean brew. Not bad, really.

Yellow, lots of carbonation, white head, dissipates almost completely in a quick like fashion. Slightly lemonish aroma, no hops.

Taste, high carbonation, lager yeast, little hop mouthfeel. Not bad, but pretty standard, a little skunky at times. Better than the pilsners in the states, but nothing to brag about here.

Dry finish. A decent summer offering.

O: Nice flavor for the style. Would drink another.

Pour: Clear, orange golden color. Two fingers of white head with average retention and spots of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Faint aroma. What's there is ridiculously sweet though, almost sugary.

Taste: Sweet pale malt front end with honey tones. Fruity and slightly yeasty middle, followed by a moderate hop bitterness, followed by that all too familiar unpleasant chemical aftertaste. Ugh!

Mouthfeel: Light, watery body. High carbonation and very crisp.

Drinkability: It's alright. It's kind of refreshing, but the taste just isn't doing much for me. Chemical aftertaste intensifies as you drink it.

Final Notes: This beer is OK. Not great, not bad, but just okay. I won't be looking to buy it again.

Loved the name if the beer. It made me wanna try it which is good for the brewery. But as I sat down to enjoy this brew I realized that I really can't get into pilasters too much. So I sat there trying to toss back a rather large bottle of beer for myself. Clear yellow and grassy and a fluffy head on this one.

Rebel pours a pale amber color with a white head from a brown twelve ounce bottle. At first I get a bit of bready malt in the aroma then some hop spicyness becomes apparent. Bready malt is most noticeable at first in the flavor, there is also a hint of caramel. There is a nice noble hop spice that is a bit muted while the beer is still cold. A nice sessionable pils.

Deeply golden colored beer with a decent white colored head.

Smell is very full of toasted grain with a good shot of noble hops too. Lots of grassy aroma with some caramel. Slightly spicy smelling with the hops favoring grass and saffron scents.

Taste starts out a little sweet with a hint of hops bite. Hop bite is about average nothing spectacular though. Mostly malty with a nice hop bite.

Mouthfeel is OK.

Easy to drink, could have more flavor though.

Picked up a bottle at Euromart for a $2.25. The aroma is a bit simple with bready spice. The body seems just a little watery, but there's a great mixture of sweet bready barley with herbal, grassy lemon hop character. Despite being a little lighter than other Czech pilsners it's also very drinkable and still very flavorful.

12 oz single.Clear golden coloured lager, nice quater inch white head. Subdued aroma, slightly grassy hop and some biscuit. A very balanced and weakish taste for a Bohemian Pils..there are certainlly hops..grassyand floral tastes and some malts..biscuit but its weak for some reason. The palate is boring but OK really..smooth. Not impressed at all one of the poorer pils from the Czech republic.

APPEARANCE: Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a Pilsner glass. Pale golden. Clear with lots of tight carbonation. Head is a frothy white 3/4" crown, a bit sticky, with chunky bubbles, which disipates quickly.

AROMA: Light sweetness and mild dry grain aromas. Also picked up light hint of grape.

TASTE: Light bodied. Light malt. Dextrin sweetness. Floral hop flavors, grain dryness and a hint of lemon and herbs with light hint of grape.

MOUTHFEEL: Very light in the mouth with a watery feel. Carbonation was lively. There was a light sweet flavor both initially and at the finish. Finish was of medium length and tongue hit was in the front and middle of the mouth. Fair body lacing that persisted for an average amount of time. Light metalic flavor at the finish.

DRINKABILITY: Nice, light, authentic Bohemian Pilsner. A decent value. I would try it again but won't go out of my way to find it.

A: The beer is crystal clear golden yellow in color and has a low amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that quickly faded away and left some lacing in the center.
S: There are moderately strong aromas of bready malts in the nose.
T: Like the smell, the overall taste is rather malty with some notes of sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
D: The beer isn't difficult to drink but the flavor isn't very interesting so I'm not sure if I will try it again.

Poured out of a 12 oz. bottle into my trusty Duvel tulip.

A - Pours a nice light golden color with about a one inch head. Just a bit of lacing.

S - Has a fruity smell with a nice apple tinge to it. Get some light grapes smell as well. Light smell altogether.

T - Very much like the smell it has a sweet taste. You definitely get the fruit.

M - Light bodied with a decent amount of carbonation. Refreshing for sure.

D - Yes. This is a nice light beer. Would take a 6 pack out on a boating trip for sure.
