This pils is an active clear, bright dark gold color. It develops a pure white head on top right over a finger tall that sticks around, surprisingly dense and rocky, and leaves good lacing as it falls.
Some grains and a red grape note set the tone, an interesting pils with a touch of floral and citrus, extremely light on the hops but they are present, with a balance of malts to complement. Even for a light style, just a little more strength would do.
The taste follows suit pretty well, the light grape notes with an unoffensive foundational grains note balancing with something a little dryer in the malts and a little brighter in a citrus note, but with a leafy, herbal element coming out on the end.
The body is as light as expected but not boring, even veering toward medium almost, with a semi-dry feel as, rather than clashing, somehow a dryness mingles with the sweeter, maltier elements. It's consistently crisp and has a nice underlying smoothness as well.

A: Poured into a Hobrau stein glass. Appears a clear golden color with a huge white head that exhibits good retention. Looks quite nice.

S: Smells like some sweet pale malt with some herbal noble hop aromas. Kind of unexciting.

T: Initial wave of honey-like sweetness, some clean grain, and a nice herbal hop flavor that finishes dry with some lingering herbal sweetness. Very simple but I like it.

M: Light to medium body with good carbonation.

O: A very nice and simple lager. I'd pick this up again for $2 per 500ml bottle. I'd love to have this with some kielbasa or stuffed cabbage with mustard, kraut and potatoes.

A: orange/yellow bubbly body, 2 finger body,

S: grain and malt

T: sweet malt, grain, slight dry finish

M: light/med body, mild prick on tongue, semi-dry mouth

O: Solid beer. Really enjoyed it and would get it again.
Not amazing, but solid enjoy and great session/gateway
brew for newbies.

PRETTY GOOD, BUT NOT A MUST HAVE!

Pours a clear honey orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of grain, corn flake, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with corn flake, grass, and cracker flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

I picked up a few bottles of Rebel whilst at Key Food in Brooklyn. I first got them b/c I wanted something drinkable for dinner. I saw them for 1.25 and thought why not. As they were zapped by the cashier I saw that they were in fact only 99 CENTS. I ran back and got a couple more.

Now to the beer. Overall not my favorite Czech Pils, but pretty good and really drinkable. The mouthfeel is near perfect smooth yet a bit bubbly. Also the appearance is great, orangish gold with a nice foamy white head. The aroma was a bit too skunky, but well within the style. Good taste, honeyish, but again to skunky for my tastes.

For the price, it can't be beat. Get Budvar or Krusovice if you are not being cheap though.

I used to drink this quite a bit in my pre micro days, as the 16oz bottles are a staple of many supermarkets nearby; pretty cheap too. I had it tonight for old times sake and chose to review.
Pours a dark golden, nearly amber color with a nice creamy film that leaves plenty of sudsy lacing.
The aroma has grassy hops, sweet cereal grain and light bread and biscuit.
The flavor seems rather clean at first with a thin and watery body. However, soon it settles into a malt forward sweetness that is relatively pleasant. I also wonder if there are some corn adjuncts. Throughout it all, there is but the slightest touch of grassy hops; I would have liked to see more of this.
Overall a simple and refreshing Lager. It didn't blow me away by any means but I wouldn't mind having it from time to time as a thirst quencher.

Poured a clear golden yellow colour with a thick frothy white head. The aroma was of sweet malts and saaz hops. The taste was mildly hoppy with a malty sweetness.
Not a bad beer by any means. I'm not the biggest fan of pilsners, but this may just be one of the best beers you can drink while sitting alongside the pool. Comfortable and easy going.

As a Czech lager this suffers in comparison to its competition, but it's not without its merits; and to be fair, there is some stiff competition! It's crystal-clear, golden body is quite attractive; and it's frothy bright-white head holds a short lid fairly well but leaves only minor spotty lace about the glass. The nose is bold with a combination of grainy malt and some spicy, floral, and mildly grassy hops. The flavor delivers a nicely balanced combination of grainy malt and spicy, herbal, and floral hops. A solid bitterness permeates it, and leaves it dry in the finish with some lingering hops. There are better examples of the style available at the same price; but it remains an enjoyable pils in it's own right.

This Czech pils tastes, smells, and feels like a weaker version of its better-known cousins -- Pilsner Urquell and Bud/Czechvar. It has a nice golden color but the head is quite weak. The aroma is saaz hops and malt, but toned down compared to the other Czech pils. Likewise, the taste is smooth and malty with a nice balance of hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is a bit slight for the style. All in all Czech Rebel is a nice beer, but not quite up to par with the aforementioned beers from the Czech Republic.

Light/medium bodied, clear pale gold color with a decent white head that fades to a very light lace.

Aroma is fruity, floral and slightly grassy with a sweet malt background.

The taste starts with a kick of hops bite then mellows a little with lightly sweet bready malt. The finish is slightly dry with a lingering grassy, slightly metallic aftertaste.

Decently drinkable and refreshing.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation streaming from the bottom of the glass and some pale yellow highlights. The beer has a half finger tall sudsy foamy white head that reduces to a large patch of mottled thick film and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of bready malts with moderate aromas of sparkling apple cider (initially but it fades after a few minutes). Light hints of grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate flavor of bready malts with a light to moderate amount of light fruit (apple) sweetness. There is a light presence of grassy hops which impart just a touch of bitterness which does not linger for long.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront and smooth towards the finish.

O: Easy to drink and refreshing though not overly complex or interesting. I'm not sure that I would go out of my way to find this one again but it goes pretty well with spicy foods.

This brew is a pale straw gold color, with a white bubbly head topping it off. Sweet malt and spicy hops combine for the aroma. Sweet malt up front, clean grains, blended bitter hop backbone. Fairly creamy mouthfeel. Some sort of weird aftertaste takes off a couple points, but overall not bad.

This beer doesn't get a great rating and now I can see why but several years ago . . . when I was still drinking Bud and thought AmberBock was an amazing beer. Czech Rebel is the beer that opened up a whole new world of beer to me . . . Always in my heart.

Picked up a bottle at Euromart for a $2.25. The aroma is a bit simple with bready spice. The body seems just a little watery, but there's a great mixture of sweet bready barley with herbal, grassy lemon hop character. Despite being a little lighter than other Czech pilsners it's also very drinkable and still very flavorful.

Rebel Pilsner pours 2 stiff fingers of head over a clear yellow
brew. Carbonation is spritzy, and the nose is light barley malt
and lager yeast. The flavor is Czech Pilsner all the way- mellow
light malt up front balanced by spicy/herbal Saatz hops. Mouthfeel
is crisp and light, just the way it's supposed to be. It's not the most
complex Pils I've had, but it's perfectly drinkable, authentic, and worth a
try.

Purchased from the Belmont Station in Portland, OR on my first visit to the store.

This beer looks great, is crystal clear and has a decent head on top. Her nose is a bit timid, and could use some kick. Perhaps some additional Nobel or Saaz hops are in order. Flavor is OK but when in the same game as many great Czech Pilseners, you really have to be on your toes, and this beer fall a bit short. But, after a few more drinks I am getting into the beer more and I would say that It's worth a go. If you a fan of pilseners don't pay to much attention to ratings, just give it a go and decide for yourself.

Finger and a half of cream white foam, the bubbles explode at such a fast rate you think Willy Wonka is behind it all, gone done to the surface like that, no lacing left behind. Light orange liquid, not pale, transparent with very mild visual distortion, a few scattered bubbles here and there. The nose has a nice liveliness to it, lots of all kinds of bread, like one big marble loaf in your nostrils, sweet golden honey accents, general maltiness then more salt 'n' pepper than herbaceousness, tame mixed white fruits, it seems like it aims to mix things together like a stew than let the elements stand apart. Medium-bodied, strong through the attack before relaxing and just letting it flow, unfold as it wants. Honey, molasses and caramel very obvious while displaying restraint when needed. The breadiness is more doughy than yeasty and had the crust cut off. A few corn notes. The carbonation somewhat lowgrade, not a deciding factor. More floral than fruity or citrusy. Hops bring tingle to the finish so it does end on an up note.

rather striking label. best before 07 03 06.

extrememly clear, deep golden color. one finger white foamy head forms and subsides to a thin lace. a few tiny bubbles rise to the surface.

a bit of a sweet candy like aroma. not picking up much grassy saaz. a bit faint overall, and the sweetness dies down a bit as it warms. would like a bit more.

good level of bitterness. comes across slightly rough, which i like, but probably should be a bit cleaner. kind of one dimensional. would have scored it higher if i could think of anything else good to say about, only i could pick up anything else from the beer.

nice mouthfeel for a light abv beer (4.4%). very easy to put away, and do wish i had another. i avoided this beer for a while thinking the "rebel" name was just a gimick. hmm, who knew?
though it could use being turned up a notch.
