Pours a clear pale amber color with a foamy white head that settles into a thin lace. Nose is stale grains along with some mineral notes. Taste begins with a light caramel maltiness followed by some grassy and herbal hops towards the end leading to a rather crisp finish. A pretty average pilsner that’s certainly enjoyable on a hot summer day, though better choices are not hard to find.

The after its release from the 12-ounce green bottle sets in the glass a luminous gold with a mountainous bright white head that is frothy in texture and the lace a fine covering upon the glass. Nose is sweet malt, fresh and clean to the senses, start quite sweet, fair malt profile and the top thin. Finish is moderate in its acidity, the hops apropos to the style, drinkable but not anything special.

Pours a very dark gold color, perfectly clear, with only a minimal dusting of head. Smells like a typical, but uninspired, pilsner -- a touch of tangy hops, but not enough to make things distinctive, alongside some insipid, sour malt smells. On the palate, good bitterness first off, framed by dry, bready malts at the mid-palate. The finish is nicely dry, but the aftertaste is quite unpleasant -- kind of a vegetal and acrid. Overall, an OK pilsner with some serious flaws, but nothing to shout about and nothing to purchase again.

A pretty average lager, but at 99cents for a 16.9 ounce bottle what do you expect? This was very drinkable and light on the palate. It poured a very light, almost clear, golden colour with a small head that dissipated rapidly. This smelled and tasted pretty average in my opinion, not that great for a czech lager beer, and no where near as good as the excellent Czechvar. The mouthfeel was very watery on this beer, and the taste was pretty light. Still it is quite a value, and it is a very drinkable beer. Nice on a hot day!

The Czech Rebel Beer has a basic golden yellow appearance. There isn't anything that really stands out to me and there's not that hurts this beer either in the appearance.

The smell was sort of bland to me, I didn't get an awakening aroma that stood out and caught my nose.

The taste is a little above average. It sort of has a smooth taste, I can't really figure this one out.

The mouthfeel is average with a crisp bite to it. Nothing really special here.

The drinkability is about average. I could sit down with a few of these but nothing really stood out for me.

Overall I think this is an alright beer but nothing I would highly recommend.

Pour: Clear, orange golden color. Two fingers of white head with average retention and spots of lacing on the glass.

Smell: Faint aroma. What's there is ridiculously sweet though, almost sugary.

Taste: Sweet pale malt front end with honey tones. Fruity and slightly yeasty middle, followed by a moderate hop bitterness, followed by that all too familiar unpleasant chemical aftertaste. Ugh!

Mouthfeel: Light, watery body. High carbonation and very crisp.

Drinkability: It's alright. It's kind of refreshing, but the taste just isn't doing much for me. Chemical aftertaste intensifies as you drink it.

Final Notes: This beer is OK. Not great, not bad, but just okay. I won't be looking to buy it again.

Poured light golden with thick white head. Decent lacing.

Smells of malt, maybe a bit of corn and grainy.

The taste is grainy, maybe a bit skunky. There's no date on the bottle. A faint hop bitterness and sour grains.

Mouthfeel is smooth and light, leaning toward crisp.

Smooth, mellow, easy drinking.

An OK beer, but I don't think I'll ever have another.

Appearance: A substantial half-inch snow-white head tops a brassy golden colored beer with many streams of fast-rising carbonation. There is an abundance of thick broken lace.

Aroma: A rather skunky euro lager aroma dominates; there are underlying sweet malt notes and a quite restrained floral hop aroma.

Taste: Opens with a mildly sweet, bready malt, and grassy notes, which soon disappears under an onslaught of excessively bitter metallic hops. These linger well past the point of being refreshing, or even welcome. The finish is crisp and a bit dry.

Mouth feel: Smooth and very pleasant, with just a bit of carbonation sting.

Drinkability/notes: The heavy-handed use of hops spoiled my enjoyment of what would have otherwise been a pleasant beer. Czechvar is a much more pleasing example of the style.

12oz bottle (no date code, drank 9-22-2010) into Dartington ultimate lager glass. 1 inch white head reduces semi-quickly to a cap with no lacing left. Clear pale gold color, a bit darker than the usual garbagey pale yellow of cheap lagers.

Aroma initially a bit of a vegetal spicyness then as the head disappeared, a sweet malty aroma came up. Taste: as the carbonation pricks the tongue like soda, iimmediately a very sweet grape and orange juice/soda (without the sour acidity) comes in and overwhelms. Aftertaste is a bit of desultory citrus rind bitterness on top of a bit of biscuit malt.

Almost like a slightly under-carbonated soda pop with tinge of bitterness. Too sweet but so drinkable like soda because it kinda tastes like soda...

The beer pours a fairly decent light golded color. It does have a bit of a fizzy head, however. Fairly decent hop aroma, although not very complex. There is a bit of maltiness and hop bitterness to the taste. Not up in the Budvar catagory, but overall a fairly decent quaff!

Looks like a pils, as well it should. Golden. Clear. White froth (though a bit smaller than most).
Muted nose of Saaz. Otherwise empty aroma-wise.
Pale and bready up front with a ghost of a green raisin fruitness. Some hard-water minerals are noted. Odd vanilla-leaning sensation midway. Herbal Saaz closure with a rotting orange/dish soap finale.
Spritzy and mineral water-esque. Easily drinkable, in a macro sort of way (considering this is dirt cheap, that may be the best comparison).
While not terrible, this has some critical flaws. There are many better bohemian pils.

12 oz single.Clear golden coloured lager, nice quater inch white head. Subdued aroma, slightly grassy hop and some biscuit. A very balanced and weakish taste for a Bohemian Pils..there are certainlly hops..grassyand floral tastes and some malts..biscuit but its weak for some reason. The palate is boring but OK really..smooth. Not impressed at all one of the poorer pils from the Czech republic.

Pour into my Trumer Pils Glass at 41 degrees.

Appearance: A medium burnish gold color in the body of the beer. There is a stable one finger white head that is foamy and slightly creamy. There is a lot of effervescence in the beer. The clarity of the beer is brilliant.

Nose: A mild floral aroma and I can smell the malt in the beer. In the nose there is subtle sweetness on the end.

Taste: A mild floral and hints of citrus taste with a week malt back bone.

Overall: The mouth feel is carbonated. The body of the beer is medium light and the finish is tad bit bitter. Okay for this beer to be a good Czech beer the Saaz Hops needs to be more pronounced. I think I got an aged bottle of beer. The beer is bland, uninteresting, and okay at best.

Darker than most pilseners. There is not much of a head but there is evident carbonation.

Strong corn smell. No hops that I can smell of but there is a grassy smell.

Good carbonation with a sweet flavor that leaves a small residue on your tongue. Minimal hop bitterness and flavor.

Easy to drink with good balance but would like more hop flavor in this beer, this is a pilsener after all.

A rebel beer this isn't, just your average european lager.

Pours a crystal clear, hay like gold, topped with a two finger puffy white head, did not lace at all. Full of tiny streams of bubbles.
Grain and grass aroma, some lemon zest.
Grainy, biscuit, grass, and citrus zest in the taste. Weird apricot/toffee aftertaste.
Light to medium bodied, I wouldn't bother trying it again.

I poured this cheap looking beer into my tumbler at 50 degrees. The beer had a nice golden color and that was all that was nice. The smell was slightly sour and I thought the taste was sour or flat also. The head was nonexistant as was any lacing. Very poor quality beer and I will not buy again.

Crystal clear, bright yellow-amber. The head is average in size, somewhat frothy, not all that long-lived and leaves almost no lace. The aroma is spicy-musky, an aroma that I usually associate with noble hops. When less than fresh, it's a smell that reminds me of a skunk's scent, although I don't believe that this particular beer is actually skunked.

Nothing special on the palate. It tastes like grain with the aforementioned noble hop aroma translated into less than fresh noble hop flavor. There's also a biting bitterness that borders on quinine-like and an underlying metallic flavor. For all of that, it is drinkable. Calling it enjoyable, though, is going a bit far.

I've heard so many good things about Czech beer, but Rebel is almost certainly not one that aficionados have in mind when praising the brewmasters from that country.

Poured from bottle into pilsener glass.

A - Straw yellow, very little head but decent carbonation, very bubbly.

S - Grass

T - Very light, The beer has a very earthy taste which is not always a good thing. I taste some type of adjunct(whether its actually there or not) something about this beer is reminiscent of Pabst.

M - Not as crisp as I'd expect, I wish there was a little more carbonation

D - Overall an unoffensive beer but certainly not a great beer. I'll finish the bottle but won't buy again, although if it was given to me I wouldn't refuse it. It was $1.69 for a 16.9oz bottle so I figured I had nothing to lose.

16.9 oz bottle. Poured a clear golden with no real head and no lacing. Aroma is faintly of hops and little else. Taste is a disappointment very little carbonation, weak and watery thin mouthfeel. Some hop bitterness in the finish but very little else. If I didn't know better I'd think this was just another macro beer!

500ml bottle poured into a Duvel tulip.

pours a very light golden color with a small white head with a bit of lacing. Nose is pilsner malt and a bit of light hoppiness.

Taste is kinda weird, it's got a kind of mustiness to it. There is some maltiness to it but honestly it's not that great. Mouthfeel is light and smooth with a small hop bite. But theres just some weird off taste that I can't explain that's turning me off.

Part of a new series titled "Reaper Does Blind Tastings of Assorted Pale Lagers."

12oz. bottle served into a pint glass

Pours a darker yellow than the other pilsners of the night. This beer pours more of a dark goldenrod, almost like a Dijon mustard color. Not much foam, but whatevs.

I'm finding out after the fact that this is a Czech pils. It certainly doesn't smell or taste like one. This beer smells almost entirely of malts. I thought it was a bock at first, what with its soft grape bubblegum aromas and significant breadiness. It's like a diet malt liquor in some ways. Totally not style-appropriate, but potentially interesting.

The flavor departs quite significantly from the nose. It's still malt-heavy upfront, with lots of musty, dusty pils malt. Very little ester on the palate. The finish proves that, yes, there are hops in this Czech pils after all: a bracing metallic bitterness attacks the whole tongue. It is unpleasantly metallic, like eating rust.

The mouthfeel is standard-issue for the style. If you're worrying that the body would be syrup-thick since the malts are so strong on the nose and tongue then fret not; it's still a thin-bodied beer. Overall, this is not a good pils. It is way, way too malt-forward, especially for a pilsner in the Czech tradition. What a weird beer.

Pours a clear amber with no head. Nose is like dirty grains. Flavor carries a slight body and then goes metallic on me real quick. I have a feeling this might be drain pour very soon. Feel has a nice bubble on it, but a thin liquid feel. Overall. Not very good. Wouldn’t suggest it and not sure it is even worth trying. Pass.

Pours a clear, light golden color with a decent head that fades to a thin layer pretty quickly. Slight musty malt aroma. A little grassy too. Metallic mineral taste with a bitter bite. The bitterness seems more from the mettalic character than hops. Mouthfeel is slightly thin, carbonation good. Not a bad deal at .99 a bottle, but I can't recommend this beer. Spend a little more for a better product.

A: beautiful clear well carbonated deep golden beer topped by a fairly large white head. These are the prerequisites for the style. The retention is average at best and leaves a nice ring of foam.

S: The aroma has a hint of sweet cereal malt and some corn like sweetness as well. The hops have the necessary noble musk but not the spicy and floral Saaz notes so cherished in the Czech Pils.

T: Easy drinking watery and mild on the malt and hops flavors. The bitterness is smooth and not harsh as required but the other flavors are just too mild to impress. Appropriately no fruity yeast esters.

M: Light bodied, average head retention. Well carbonated and gassy

D: Just an OK Czech Pils. Easily sessionable and would pick it over the run of the mill American Macro lager or Pils

500ml Bottle. Awesome label.

App: True gold with fluffy, white 2 finger head

Smell: Caramel malt and nothing but. Not what i look for in a pils, especially a czech one.

Taste: Greeted by the caramel malt. Next follows a bit of a chemical taste. Ends with a sharp, burning hop bitterness from those czech hops. A rather light flavor.

Has the mouthfeel of a cheap american lager: light but sticky.

Not a great beer, but i'd have this over alot of others.
