A 500ml bottle with a BB of Jan 2012. ABV stated as 5%. Label mentions that it contains barley and wheat.
Poured into a tulip pint glass. A hazy pale straw hue with very low carbonation and exceptionally fine sediment. Yields a minute head of frothy white foam that disappears within seconds. Aroma of light malt with plenty of fruity grapefruit and citrus notes, underpinned by subtle hints of yeast.
Tastes of pale malt with tons of hop aroma and a mild bitter finish. Notes of grapefruit, citrus and tropical fruits, along with a whiff of pine. Dry, earthy yeast in the background and a crisp bitterness upon swallowing. Mouthfeel is smooth and dry, but a little flat. Quite astringent - dries the palate. Aftertaste of aromatic hops - delicious!
An excellent ale - packed with aromatic hop goodness. Are all Oakham's beers this good? Fantastic flavour; this would become a favourite if it were regularly available. Love those citrus notes. Highly recommended.

L- Mid gold, slightly hazy, pours with 1mm white head that clears quickly.
S- Subtle, just a slight fruitiness to it.
T- Hoppier than expected for a 'trad looking' English pint. Hops are certainly the focus here.
M- It's hops-forward, but not entirely OTT. That said with such beers I can find it hard to register/ID much beyond the hops.
O- Too hoppy/dry for me. It should appeal to the hop-heads into the more fashionable styles. Probably better drinking in mid-summer than mid-winter.
Bought from Waitrose, Eaton nr Norwich. BB: 31/8/19

L: Pours a clear, pale gold. Handful of escaping bubbles. One finger white head reduces to a thick cap with decent lacing. Looks like a golden ale.
S: Heather honey. Sweet meadow grass. Floral. Malt is far in the background for an English bitter.
T: Heaps of citrus, honey and grass. Lots of bitterness. Must be a combination of New World and English hops (google alert: looked it up, sure enough...challenger & cascade). Balance is exceptional.
F: Medium body. Rich, smooth, bitter. A little tang in the finish. Amazing drinkability.
O: Outstanding. I could drink this over and over again. Another reason for summer to arrive. This will be spectacular, drunk cold, outdoors, on a summer afternoon.

From bottle, poured a golden yellow with a one finger white foamy head that dissipated within about a minute. Aroma had a light sweet earthy malt with some nice citrus notes. The taste was mildly sweet through a combination of the earthy maltiness and Floral notes. Buttery.

A: Orangey with a small head.
S: Blossomy hops and woodiness. Lemonade.
T: Repeats the nose. Quite lemonadey. Fairly bitter. Boring mouthfeel.
O: I'd like a bit more whack for five percent although this is MUCH better on cask.

Pours clear golden, one finger foamy head.
Very nice smell, with citrus and sweet tropical fruit, bit of pine, flowers and dry English hops, nice diversity and balance. A small sniff of toasted grains and biscuits too.
Bitter from start to finish, but with lots of other stuff popping around. Starts with some sweet tangerine, mango, faint lychee, apricot and pear. Mix of green and dried grass follows, dry petals (elderflowers?), grains, faint biscuity malts (cracker-like), with a flavor-enhancing saltiness. Finish and aftertaste have grapefruit, salted grains (what is up with that?! really like it), faint flowery perfume, dry tobacco-like hops, no sweet fruitiness lingers.
Medium body and carbonation, a buttery feel to it, smooth.
Great beer, really set apart from others. I'll be looking out for more Oakham, most of their beers surprised me.
