Very good citrus flavor and lovely copper color. Bought at brewery and born date is a week ago. Makes for a great tasting IPA. In sweet spot 6.6% and 60. Only negative is mouth feel is a little too carbonated for me but overall is one of best I’ve tried recently. Get it now.

Appearance: The hazy copper colored liquids builds beneath the bubble show, finishing up a two fingers; clumpy webs of lacing form

Smell: Tropical fruit and pine tones; somewhat herbal, too

Taste: Overripe fruit tones forward, with pineapple, blood orange and pine; pretty bitter by today's standards, with a very herbal and bitter finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Rather unusual flavors in this IPA; lacks the bright, juicy tones so common today

Thanks, kevindp9, for the opportunity

A hazy copper, with a finger of off white head that sticks around, a bit. The aroma has lemon, orange, grapefruit, and a slight dank quality. Caramel and biscuit notes from the malts. The flavor has a nice balance between sweet and bitter. Mild bitterness lingers a bit. Lots of citrus flavors and bready malts. Mild lacing. The feel is about average carbonation, dry, and medium-ish body. Overall, tasty, I'll be back.

12 oz can as part of a mix-a-six poured into pint glass.

L - Pours a cloudy copper color with a thick 2 inches of off-white head that sticks throughout the glass. Leaves a strong lacing.

S - Piney, dank, metallic hops, floral, citrus rind, honey. Typical of most west coast IPAs as far as the nose.

T - Orange, tangerine, grapefruit, grassy, piney grain, honey, and a slight touch of biscuity malt. A little sweeter than most IPAs, almost with an orange blossom quality between the orange and honey notes,

F - Light to medium bodied, little carbonation, smooth but slightly sticky, and very drinkable.

O - A good local representation of a classic IPA. Barrio brews some great beer, and this is definitely one worth trying. Not too overpowering and a delicious brew.

***UPDATE 4/17/18***
Exactly one year later from original review, I return to a local favorite, this time poured from a 12 oz can into a tulip glass and a noticeable difference in appearance. The other qualities stayed the same.

L - When poured into a tulip, the color is a deep, almost ruby-like copper, no cloudy haze as previously poured, an abundance of soapy, white head that leaves a thick lacing that sticks to the glass throughout the session. Maybe I need to get my eyes checked or brush up on descriptives, but there's nothing cloudy about this pour. Perhaps glassware does affect appearance.

12 oz. can:

Born on 01/03/17 stamped on the bottom:

Pours hazed golden with a creamy head. Trailing lace sticks.

The smell is of fresh citrus - grapefruit, tangerine, orange, lemon. Musty hops and some pale grain. Robust.

The taste is of citrus - bitter grapefruit, tart lemon and sweet tangerine blend well. It has a juicy medium body.

A refreshing citric IPA. Well-done!
