This brew poured out as a nice looking red color with a decent head on top. The head was a little sticky and left behind some moderate lacing. The smell of the beer was hoppy, it had some sweet caramel aromas in there too. The taste of the beer was the best part. It had a really nice hoppy flavor to it that settles into a softer more sweet malt flavor in the finish. The mouthfeel wasn't too bad, decent body with a decent carbonation. Overall it's a good drinkable brew and I would probably drink it again.

A: Ever so slightly hazy robust copper. Smallish off-white head. A barely adequate bit of lace.

S: Doughy caramel malts & some C-hops. You have to hunt for it though. The nose is a bit shy.

T: Minimal Citrus in the hops. More earthy, leafy & an tough of cat – Amarillo & Centennial? Firmly bitter with a good long finish. Grainy malts have a bit of bready and cereal character with just a touch of caramel. Malts are a bit thin and short on depth.

M: Just barely medium body, maybe slightly under. CO2 is a smidge over balanced, but nicely expansive. Dry hoppy finish just taps on astringents door.

D: A hop focused red with emphasis on the bitter. Malts are rather thin – lacking in body, depth, and character. This is still a reasonable beer, but some more malts and maybe a touch of juicier hops on the front end could really make it shine.

$3.50 bomber from Abe's.

Hazy orange/amber body, topped by a healthy three fingers plus of snow white fluff.

Light aroma of caramel and fresh bread.

Strong semi-sweet caramel flows down the tongue. Balanced by earthy hops that keep the sweetness in proper check. Clean finish.

Light mouthfeel moves things along.

Solidly drinkable, for geeks and the BMC crowd.

A solid tasty straight-forward amber ale, inexpensive too. What's not to like?

My last night of tastings. Sad really, now I will have to wait an entire month before I get to indulge in such things again. But what can you do, figured I would go out with a bang and hit up these new ones and get them off the list and out of the fridge. Served cold and poured into a pint glass, these were consumed on 11/18/2010.

I don't even know where this one came from, but I decided I would go for it as we were digging down through the fridge pretty good by this point. And we have a foamer! Loads of off white foam just coming across everywhere and dripping up and down the sides of the glass. Once it calmed down it had a nice amber color to it, but it was late to save the look of this one. Aroma is earthy malts, touches of off fruit and a deep caramel tone, light, misguided and muddled it really just did not do much for me at all. Flavor was decent but again not really feeling this one in any way, just not the right mix of flavors and the profile just seems to go nowhere.

Overall I will have to pass. It was average at best and just not something I would want to repeat.

brother picked me up the variety of bombers...

poured from the bottle a nice caramel amber with light head that dissipates quickly.

smell is very feint, biscuity malt, nothing complex or strong.

taste is solid malt front with mild hop clip on the end. strong caramel, bicuity and grainy flavors present.

mouthfeel is solid, good carbonation, flavors linger nicely.

quite drinkable, a nice malty ale, goes down easy.

On-tap at the brewery tasting room. This one at 4.5%. A nice amber colour with a big head, and lacey. So-so drinkable. A bit less tahn average mouthfeel, tingling carbonation. Mildly fruity and hoppy. A little off taste, would like it more bitter, and it is promised a tweaking. General now, malty, a tad nutty.

Pours a cloudy dark amber color with some golden orange hues when held to a light source and a frothy two finger head that slowly settles into a lasting cap that leaves sporadic chunks of lacing.

Aroma is kind of bland with some caramel malt, biscuit and subtle hops.

Crisp medium body with some crisp floral hops balanced out by a caramel malt backbone with a slight dry finish. Subtle hints of earthy grass. Decent session beer.

Bavarian Barbarian in bottles! Welcome to the PA bomber Scene, BB, glad to have you.

A: The bomber pours a brilliant amber color, a dark red-brown color that is just full enough to be opaque. A finger of head came on the initial pour and was quiclk to dissapate.

S: The nose is full of caramel malts, lush and nearly chewy. The hops are citrusy, mildly fragrant, but don't make a big fuss.

T: The ale is very bready, loaded with cereal and caramel flavors. Carbonation is relatively low, letting the bread linger much longer than it should. The hops are mild, citrusy but faint. They do make some noise in the aftertaste, leaving a nice bitter finish.

M: The ale is quite accessible, full of malty caramel flavors and lacking any form of alcoholic heat. I generally prefer a great deal of carbonation but I find that the low levels greatly assists the taste.

D: Only 5%, really? Good taste and price that can't be beat (~$4 per bomber). I'll be picking up more of these in the near future.

On tap at the Bavarian Barbarian brewery.

Poured a medium amber color with an averaged sized off white head. Aromas of caramel with some pine and citrus. Tastes of caramel, citrus, and some graininess. Lighter hoppy bitter finish.

Color is a clear medium amber. One finger head from a slow pour; nice retention. Get some nice climbing lace throughout the session.

Syrup in the nose. Hints of honey.

Lots of sweet caramel. Slight bitterness at the end, more as the Ale warms.

Medium mouthfeel. Smooth, silky, almost buttery. Decent carbonation.

Not a bad American Red Ale. I was more excited about the two other brews currently at the Barbarian (Brown and IPA.) This one left a little to be desired.

I had this taster on tap at the Brewery on 3/22.

Served cool in a small wheat glass.

A - Dark amber verging on copper w/ a light cream colored head.

S - Malty aromas w/ subtle buttery sweet caramel malt aroma in the forefront.

M - Moderately sweet, medium feel, with full carbonation. Slightly spiced and mildly sweet in the finish.

T - A pretty average ale, an ordinary no frills amber(not my favorite style) but the beer tastes like it was made w/ purpose in mind. The owner even commented that this is their alternative for Yuengling Lager drinkers. Not bad, no off flavors to speak of.

D - Very flavorful, I could see this as a nice picnic ale cutting the grease of burgers and dogs. I could see this as a gateway beer, easy drinkin'

Thanks to Deuane for sharing this growler...
Appears a transparent amber with a small, light tan head that quickly fades into a small cap. Spotty lacing is left around the glass.
Smell is of freshly cracked grains, yeasty notes, mild hops, very clean.
Taste is of the mentioned aromas with a nod towards Sam Adams Boston Ale(IMO anyway) with a doughy sweetness.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied, yeasty, slightly bitter, with a small hop presence.

Warmed toffee candies and hidden malt candies meet the nose and release wonderful childhood memories.
Clean, clear Egyptian amber in colour, verticlisliced by anxious bubbles racing up toward and joining the velvety cap . Soothing mouthfeel parts as this ale laughs along the tongue and there on the end,the very end , a kiss of hops punctuates this pleasant Sunday drive. This ale seeks Summer evenings and good friends.

Deep amber with a medium off-white head. Light hops and carmel malt scents. Matly sweetness with a decent balance of a noticable but not powerful hop presence. Nice carbonation gives it a crisp, clean and bouncy mouthfeel...nothing big. Atotally easy drinking session beer. As I said when drinking my frist...this is Yuengling Lager for beer geeks.
