Appears an orange toned amber with a fluffy, off white cap that slowly fades into a Foamy head that settles to one corner of the glass. Scattered bits of lacing are left around the glass.
Smell is of brach's orange caramel candies with a touch of herbs.
Taste is of the aromas with a bitter bite ronding out the finish.
Mouthfeel is of bitter orange and pumelo zest along with a soapy, cilantro zip that tingled the tastebuds.

This is my first beer from Barbarian Brewing Company. I had heard very good things about this brewery but I consider this to be an average beer, There are hops but this still has a watered down taste to it. Nothing exciting going on just an average IPA. I am still hoping for good things from this Brewery and wish them the best of luck.

On tap at the brewery on 3/19/10.

A - Slightly hazy and well-carbonated golden liquid with orange tint and half an inch of off-white foam that reduced to a thin, frothy patch and spotty, stringy lace.

S - Aroma is kind of subdued overall with a hint of diacetyl, faint fruit hops and a mild catbox element suggesting Amarillo hops.

T - Caramel and toffee notes appear first, but the flavor quickly transforms into a fairly assertive bitter hop character with spicy herbal and citrus notes as well as a subtle rye malt presence. Finishes with a dry bitterness and leafy hop character.

M - Medium bodied with a syrupy texture and moderate carbonation. Finishes with a dry lingering hop bitterness on the palate.

D - This is quite a dry, bitter IPA with a nice spicy character and lingering hop bite. While the aroma could definitely benefit from maybe some dry hopping, this was a solid effort from Bavarian Barbarian with a pretty aggressive hop bitterness.

Out of a brewery fresh growler and into my shaker glass. 2x4 appears a hazed medium amber color with a good inch or so of fluffy off white foam. The head leaves a nice sticky lace in its wake with each sip. Nose and flavors are of resinous pine, caramelized malts, toasted bread, white grapefruit juice, bitter lemon peel, tangerine, orange, floral, a bit spicy. A tad better than medium bodied for an the style and amply carbonated. Finish is slick with a lingering bitterness. Really nice overall.
