pours a nice clean looking golden color with a bit of white head that fades to light lacing quickly. the aroma has a bit more in the way of yeasty character than I would expect from a pale ale, but the aroma back mixes nicely. the taste is a nice balance of malt and citrusy hops with the nice level of effervescence creates a good drinkable pale ale.

On tap at One Guy on 2/7/09.

A - Poured a hazy pale golden body with scant amount of carbonation and slim white head that settled into a patchy film and left nice sticky lace.

S - Pretty subtle nose at first that opened up more as the liquid warmed up. Fruity, citrusy hops and traces of bready and caramel malts emerge, as well as a mild grainy character and hints of lemon.

T - Crisp fruity hop flavor up front with a bit of grassy bitterness. Sweet malts balance the bitterness in the middle, followed by a bready/biscuity malt finish.

M - Medium body with a slightly slick, oily texture and lively carbonation. Crisp hop bite with a very clean finish and mild bitterness on the palate.

D - Nicely balanced pale ale with a tasty hop profile. This is a straight-up example of a classic style, and I wouldn't expect anything less from Guy.

Thanks to Jason(ClockworkOrange) for this growler :)

64oz. brown growler poured into pints glasses, shared with Kels.

A: Pours a light corn husky yellow with good clarity. 1 finger of airy white head forms and holds a bit. A bit of lacing.

S: Plenty of grains and sweetness to completely balance out a lightly floral, more grassy and earthy Euro hop profile. A touch of yeasty esters.

T/M: A bit more bitterness than I excepted after smelling the malts in the nose. More of the grassy and lightly floral hops. Sweetness is at a good level but the malts overbalance just a touch. I know it's a Pale Ale and balance is the key but it just feels like a bit too much malt. Kent Goldings were used so this batch is more of an English Pale Ale and I'm guessing they may have used a English/British yeast, too. Body is medium light with good carbonation.

D: Very easily drinkable and low ABV. Not extremely interesting but a good session and it was easy to finish the growler off with Kelley. Thanks, Jason! It was great meeting you, too. :)

Sampled on tap at brewery.

A: Poured a medium orange with a slight cloudy turbidity and was topped off by a thin creamy white layering.

S: The nose had some fresh oranges and a very subtle spicy hopping.

T: The flavor had soft citrus, bright oranges against a soft pale cereal grain backing. Simspon malt, Willamette hops and a british ale yeast was used to produce this. The yeast left only slight hints of dry tart fruit behind.

M: very soft in texture with a light body and light carbonation.

D: Drinkability was good. If your looking for a hop bomb look elsewhere, this is brewed more like a british pale with a soft grain backing and was lightly hopped. A decent summer time quencher but may disappoint those looking for there fair share of hops in this one.

This Pale Ale arrives a rather clear light yellow with about a finger of fluffy white head leaving minimal lacing on the glass. There are light bready aromas followed by crisp citrus such as lemon. The use of simcoe hops is stated in the description, and it is evident in the taste. Citrus fruits such as grapefruit are there, along with some piney notes as well. Medium both in body and carbonation. This is a nice, clean and refreshing APA and the low ABV says session beer to me. I took a growler home to enjoy later...
