Sampled on tap at brewery.

A: Poured a clear, dark orange-gold with a strong carbonation presence. A 1 inch solid frothy head sits atop leveling off to a light speckled covering with a light lacing left behind.

S: The nose had a sweet honeyflower hoppiness, subtle but noticeable and appreciable.

T: The flavor was sweet with some honeymalt and was very clean and crisp. A soft hopping delicately balances the sweetness of the grains while still allowing enough to shine through.

M: a nice medium viscosity to it, very smooth with a medium carbonation presence.

D: A very good and sweet drinking lager and probably the best of the bunch I sampled here. Light enough for the local crowd to enjoy, but clean and brewed well enough to deserve respect from the aficionado crowd. Probably one of the easiest session lagers i can remember and gets extra points here.

A-Bright golden kissed copper with a thin white head that reduced to a thin ring and left spotty lace.

S-Light sweet caramel malt with a mild spicy hop zip. Not overly aromatic, as expected.

T-Sweet biscuit malt with a light spicy hop kick. Simple but sharp and refreshing.

M-Medium-light bodied sharp, crisp and clean with mild lingering flavours.

D-Classic and elegant in it's simplicity. A straight forward, easy drinking and totally sessionable brew. A great crossover brew for those not into craft beer--->yet!

Had this one on tap today at the brewery.

Appearance: Standard transparent golden with minimal crown/retention/lace.

Smell: Pale malt and lager yeast.

Taste: Same as nose but with a hint of sweetness in the finish.

Mouthfeel: On the heavy side of light bodied with a decent crispness.

Drinkability: So sessionable.

On tap at One Guy on 8/16/08.

A - Clear light golden/amber body with short white head and sparse amount of carbonation. Head fully receded and left minimal lacing. Nice clarity overall.

S - Aroma is primarily sweet caramel malt with a mild noble hop presence. Not much else going on, really, but it does smell very fresh.

T - Caramel and bready malts with light hops. Very simple flavor profile, but tasty. Hops are mild, grassy and floral, and there are also some hints of toffee present.

M - Medium body with a slightly syrupy texture and moderate carbonation providing a little prickle on the tongue. Finishes clean and a little on the sweet side, with only mild bitterness on the palate.

D - Very nicely balanced lager that is simple and easy to drink... like a lager should be. Again, very par for the style. Nicely done!

What a wonderful entry from Guy Hagner's One Guy Brewing. A very approachable lager that tastes really good. A fresh, grainy taste is what comes through the most, without big fuss. The nose is quite small, but indicative of the flavor found within. Comparison with Yuengling's Lager will come to mind, but it is a mere shadow in comparison with with the Berwick Lager. Crisp, clean and very, very drinkable, I am enjoying this beer immensely. I'm glad to hear it will have regular availability at One Guy, a very good thing.
