Very nice for a bottled kellerbier. Very pleasant carbonation feel on the palette. I'll add this to my regular rotation.

Pours a murky, tea color with a decent foamy head and layered, sticky lacing. Nice presentation. Strong, malty nose with dark fruit and caramel. Taste follows. Solid malt backbone with cereal and dark bread notes. Some fruit flavor, like fig paste, and apple. Smooth and a decent carbonation. True representation of the style.

Pours into a half liter stein a dull lemon tinged tea color with a thick creamy lightly carbonated head atop.Caramel malts with some mild grass to go along with the expected dough aspect.A mellow feel wich is spot on for the style, very smooth.A sweet pizza dough flavor with some stone fruits melding into a slightly spicy herbal drying finish. Not bad...the feel is superb but not an overly complex palate, seems heavier than what it is.

A new arrival at the local good beer store... little did I realize it's also almost a year old having been bottled in December of 2013. Hmm.

A -- Pours a slightly hazy copper color with a dense, slow settling, off-white head that remains persistent throughout the drink.

S -- Light bready and yeasty malts up front with some light caramel.

T -- Great bready, melanoidin malts up front that start mildly sweet and blend into a soft bread crust character. Some mildly spicy hop bitterness in the finish that lingers into the aftertaste. Just what I expect from a southern German beer.

M -- Mouthfeel is soft and smooth with a light-medium body.

O -- Great color, rich maltiness that can't be found outside Bavaria, smooth and satisfying -- even at near its expiration.

appearance: Nice brown to amber color, meaty head that screams backbone. NIce color blending that goes from dark at the top to light at the bottom. Really loving it.

smell: Hearty and robust smells that your can really feel the roasted barley. Really fills up your nose and says step up to something with a back bone.

taste: Fruit on the side with a nice sweetness, barely a bit of the hoppiness at the end just as it says good bye down the hatch. Slight smoke at the end to make you think of a warm place after a cold wet day.

mouthfeel: Not as much backbone as the smell lends for but great and full enough at the end to give it substance.

overall: A great brew deffinately one you should pick up if you see it. Almost woth goign well out of your way for. Really liking this brew.

On draft at CK. Beer is golden to amber and mostly clear with a thin white head, some lacing, moderate to low carbonation.

Aroma is yeasty, with a mild munich malt note.

Beer is nice, light in body, sweet on the palate, interesting beer, a nice wet finish. Not very heavy on the yeast in the palate as you might expect a zwickl would be but this is a solid beer. I'd have it again.

Coming in a 500ml brown swing-top bottle, BB 24/10/08, served chilled in a weizen glass.

A: pours a translucent, dark amber hue with faint red hues; carbonation is lively but not fierce, supporting a thick layer of ever-lasting beige froth on the top.
S: compared with the Göller Kellerbier tasted yesterday, this one is slightly more pronounced in terms of lager's dough-iness, on top of light amber malts and delicately floral German hops. A certain depth of hoppiness manifests itself on the aroma, too. Compact and balanced.
T: mildly bitter-sour, with a rather solid body of yeastiness, soothing lager malts, a touch of caramel and herbs, plus an expanding flow of chewy floral hoppiness and slightly spicy+tannic bitterness (a bit like from roughly-crushed lemon-seeds). The mildly sour-bitter finish also shows a little tangy citrus fruits.
M&D: this is perhaps the most enjoyable Kellerbier in the bottle-version that I've tasted; soothing on the carbonation, with marvellous hoppiness and bitterness threading through the tasting, while the sediment adds some more body and depth to the overall nicely balanced flavour profile. A quaffable "German bitter"!

On draft, served in a tall half liter branded mug.

Copper color, creamy textured foam. Hard to see inside the stoneware mug, but blowing the foam to one side works.

Fruity caramel flavor, light and fairly simple. Unfiltered, smooth and yeasty. Easily quaffed in larger sips. Light lingering bitterness, but not much hop presence otherwise. Balanced and easy drinking. Prost!

A: Golden color with a creamy, white, head and lots of lacing.

S: Caramel, Wild strawberries, Hint of metal, Hint of malt.

T: Caramel, Malt, German hops, Berries.

M: Easy to drink with medium carbontation and small bubbles. Refreshing. Slight bitterness at the end.

An average kellerbier. Not very good. Not bad at all.

On draught at Gustav's, served in a 1/2 liter Paulaner mug, Aktien Zwick'l Kellerbier is clear pale auburn with a small eggshell head leaving pretty nice lace.

Smell is on the faint side, some sulfur, a touch of fruity esters that bloom as it warms.

Taste is mostly bready cereals with a firm yeast (not ester) note. Not a particularly complex beer, a very faint hint of caramel.

Mouthfeel is on the dry, crisp side, but there is some roundness to the medium body.

Drinkability is ok, the yeast add a bit more then your average maltier lager, but it's a pretty simply flavored brew otherwise.

Flip-top 500 ml bottle taken Dec 2011 on the balcony of a mates flat by the banks of the Mosel River in Luxembourg, looking across into Germany.

The beer pours a dull semi-cloudy amber with an off-white foam topping sat above.

The smell was of malts, it has an earthy, bready, yeasty mini aroma as well, more so as the beer warmed in the glass.

The taste has a malty sweet front which fades as the hop flavours and bitterness assert themselves. This isn’t a strong flavoured brew, but it does have a decent kellerbier feel to it.

Another brew to ‘tick off’ my list of want to try beers before I die (still a huge list).

A: The beer is dark yellowish amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a short head covering the surface, a collar around the edge of the glass, and some lacing down the sides.
S: Light to moderate aromas of apples and yeast are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell, having flavors of yeast and apples, along with a little sweetness.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and a bit clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is easy to drink, but doesn't seem to have as much complexities in the taste compared to other beers I've had in the style.
