Pours a bright golden color with a froth, huge head.

Smells of wet hay, toffee and dried leaves, tied together by a metallic note.

Has a smooth, soft mouthfeel among a very light bodied beer, showcasing a well nuanced effervescence during the finish.

Tastes of a herb infused melange of white bread dough and caramel malts, enriched by a note of sun bathed straw. Develops a short bonbon sweetness during mid palate, drowned by an aqueous metallicness. Finishes still very sweet, but with a calming touch of herbal hops and da aqua.

Starts nice, but looses its balance then to a sugary malt sweetness, distracting from an otherwise very well made beer.

500ml bottle from shop in Alexanderplatz, Berlin (approx. €1.60):
This one can only be classed as a terrible lager, the beer was cheap & bordered on nasty at times with only a faint touch of sweetness & basic hops hinting at anything in the way of flavours. There was some skunk & vegetable adjuncts at times which wasn't exactly what I'd hoped for going into this one & it was easily one of the worst beers I tried on my recent trip to German; a definite one to avoid for me.

From the bottle, it pours a clear light golden with a modest head. A bit of grass in the nose, and the mouth gets some as well. Relatively dry finish. Easy drinking light lager.

A great go-to brew. Light dry feel. Carbonated and easy drinking. Nice golden color. Slight thin head. Subtle hop finish. Nice grain front. I like this basic drinker.

On tap at Die Stamme Kneipe (DSK) in Brooklyn. Great place.

Poured perfectly. Nose is a little more interesting than actual taste: grassy and grainy, and reminds me of the hamster food pellets from my youth. In a good way. Taste is even-keeled and malt-driven. Grassy earth notes stay on the tongue long after. A bit boring, but excessively drinkable (I find it boring only because I was in the mood for something more aggressive - not Bayreuter's fault).

Good work.

On tap at Prost-Boise. Perfect Helles, huge fluffy head, nice grainy, malty nose. Taste is smooth, delicious, silky texture, Haven't had a Helles this good in a while.

On tap at Biergarten in LaGuardia Airport.

This one pours a clear sunny yellow color, with a half inch head, lots of bubbles, and s bit of lacing.

Smells pretty classically helles, lite grassy hops, slightly bready and crackery malt, and some light lager fruity esters.

The taste runs pretty similar. It's tastiness comes from its subtle bready malt flavors, light grassiness from the hops, and it's really nice drinkability. I get a bit of pear, which I assume to be from the yeast.

This has a crisp and snappy mouthfeel, with a high level of carbonation.

A simple but very drinkable Helles here. I definitely enjoyed it.

Served cool from 500ml bottle into Veltins pilsner mug.

L) Pale golden, clear, very bubbly dense thinnish white head.

S) Fairly strong Hallertau hops odour.

T) Very nice - honey like sweetness on the soft malt flavour, hop bitterness very muted on this one. Nice fruity tones on the aftertaste.

F) Quite a muted soft mouthfeel on this one, very very smooth. No bitterness in the aftertaste, leaves the mouth very clean.

O) Top notch Helles; this one goes in a slightly different direction emphasising a subtle sweetness with almost no hop balance. Recommended.

On tap at Wursthaus in Santa Ana, CA. Pours a bright yellow with substantial head. Smell is dominated by malt and German lager yeast esters. Taste is malty with yeast esters and moderate hop bitterness on the finish. Pleasant beer to pair with a house made sausage on a hot summer evening.

On tap at Boneyard Bistro in Sherman Oaks, CA.

Pours a clear light yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, corn flake, and grass aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, corn flake, and grass flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of earth bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is an above average beer that is light and easy to drink.

Serving type: on tap.
