BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Santa Fe Brewing Company
New Mexico, United States

Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 8.00%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
This is the kind of beer that gives the word "stout" a reputation. Extra generous quantities of barley malt, followed by vigorous fermentation leaves this "imperial" heavy weight with 8% alcohol A.B.V. and a body as full as chocolate bread pudding. A complimentary and complex array of bitter notes comes form potent American hops, earthy British hops, black-roasted malts and, of course, coffee. Santa Fe Brewing Company uses only top-quality ingredients like organically grown East Timor coffee beans blended with New Guinea coffee beans, locally roasted by O'hori's Coffee House. Its heavenly flavor and aroma can't be beat or imitated.

The beer pours a deep brown with a thick tan head that left a lot of patchy lacing.

The smell is tons of coffee and light roasted malts. I'm also getting some deeper char further down.

The taste follows with tons of coffee up front and some nice roasted malt for balance.

The mouthfeel is great. It's been thick and smooth. This is what I expect an 8% stout to feel like.

Overall this is a very nice beer, although the coffee is a little too burnt tasting for me.

very dark brown for the color. I could barely pick up any coffee notes in the smell and I think it smells more like your average lager, but the taste more than makes up for that with dominating coffee flavor.

I enjoyed this one. I have a soft spot for coffee beers, but this one delivered. Aroma had a good dose of coffee with a hint of alcohol and roasted grains. Full bodied with coffee on thflavor profile as well. For an eight percenter, an easy drinker. Good carbonation makes this one smooth ro ingest and digest. I call it a winner.

Another good one from Santa Fe Brewing & I do think this one would be very good with donuts,> As a matter of fact, I think I'll have one in the morning with an applesauce or apple fritter! This one really opens up as it warms, the head and lacing are very good. The 8% alcohol is present, but not overpowering. Drink on!

Pours a deep black with nice tan head and sticky lacing. Smells of coffee, dark chocolate, and malt. The taste is very good, full blast of coffee up front with a nice sugary malt blend, notes of bitter chocolate and light hops. Finish is medium with mild bite of alcohol and a lingering coffee taste. Overall this a terrific stout.

12oz can into a pint glass. no freshness dating.

black, black body. small oatmeal colored head. excellent lacing

very strong coffee aroma. nothing else coming through.

one of the most coffee dominant stouts I've ever had. nothing else at all.

between medium and full on the mouth, a slightly bitter coffee finish in the back of the mouth.

well, i enjoy coffee stouts, and this one certainly delivered in the coffee department. would be interesting to try one that has mellowed a little.

Aroma is a good balance between roasty malt, coffee, and cocoa.

Flavor is chocolatey throughout, with a fairly roasty bitter coffee finish. Alcohol heat at the finish.
