Notes / Commercial Description:
A classic beer for those beer lovers who love their hops, Happy Camper IPA will take the Pepsi Challenge (or IPA challenge, as we say in New Mexico) against any other pretenders to the throne. Was it divine providence that made this beer the king of the IPA world? Was it a tireless pursuit of glory? No, this IPA has a top-secret recipe to thank for its success, and this meticulously formulated combination of several different hops combined with a very specific brewing process give Happy Camper IPA a spicy, citric, and floral infusion of hop character, which is masterfully counterbalanced with the full-bodied maltiness characteristic of the Santa Fe Brewing Company’s distinctive beers.

Maybe I got a bad one, but this one was very malt forward - maybe perhaps aiming for a more traditional British style IPA. But I also got some mustiness to it and the malt sweetness was pulled into some strange, not great medicinal lingers.

No canned date found

Pours deep copper color and I get no sediment or floaties. Full 1 1/2 finger head and pillowy, reminds me of SNPA head, but it recedes quicker. Still leaves full film and thick collar. Looks really good

Smells of grass and lemon, almost flowery. Subdued cracker

First taste is somewhat sweet and a little bit tart. Carries almost a green apple flavor. Not getting much of the lemony citrus hops picked up in the nose. Hops come thru more bitter than anything else. This doesn't taste too fresh. Picks up some light caramel also which is more pleasant than the bitterness.

Feel is kind of flat and that's most noticeable to me. Bitterness lingers some. Medium bodied.

This one didn't do too well for my palate. Nose was promising, but nothing came together. It's faint malts and no real flavor from the hops, just bitterness. Feel really fell short. If this is somewhat fresh, it's more a Pale Ale and not really a good one at that.

Can pours hazy amber gold color with a 2 finger foamy beige colored head that was packed with tiny bubbles and faded very slowly, leaving excellent foamy lacing and rings as it went down.

Smells of toffee, caramel, lemon zest, fresh piney hops, faint grapefruit, floral or herbal notes, toasted grains and biscuit or a Ritz Cracker. Has and English IPA nose that's hoppy enough to lean towards West Coast IPA.

Tastes slightly bitter to start with a punch of citrus fruit and the English IPA malt profile following soon after. Flavors are close to how it smells with caramel, lemon zest, piney hops, grapefruit, sweet malts, citrus hops and general fruity notes, toffee, brown sugar, toasted grains, biscuit, Ritz Cracker, orange peel and peppery spices like white pepper, a dash or cinnamon and coriander. Still seems more English IPA to me, but it's easy drinking and hides the ABV well. Mouthfeel is on the chewy side with a smooth feel and mild carbonation. Overall a nice IPA.

12oz can into a pint glass. no freshness dating that i could find.

dk amber body, small off white head, good lacing, however, tons of minute floaties.

not much on the nose, except for some sweet malt. This one may be past its prime, but without easily stamped freshness dating on the bottom of the can, how would anyone know?

Weird flavor. getting, of all things in an ipa, coffee? slightly sweet with a decent hop bite towards the end.

solid above medium mouth, slightly bitter on the finish.

One of the oddest ipas I've had, but i have to say, it worked for me. an enjoyable drink.

On tap into a pint glass.
A- very hazy orange with lots of sediment and bubbles. Head is medium to thick off white and leaves some thick, patchy lacing!
S- pine and earthy hops teamed with pale malts.
T- almost identical to the nose.
F- a somewhat dirty hop bitterness that lingers.
O- nice canned IPA that has some similarities to torpedo, but no where near that good.
