Pours reddish brown with a solid head that fades slowly and leaves lacing a quarter-way down the glass. Smells of roasted malts and light caramel come from the head. Tastes consists of dominant malts with a light spice and caramel note before a barely hopped finish. Taste is slightly sweet upfront but balanced for the style. Medium body with medium carbonation that is just a little bit creamy. Good red that isn't spectacular but definitely solid.

Beautiful red ale with a tall, thick head. The aroma is malty, with some biscuit and toffee scents. Some background herbal hops. The flavor is more intense than expected, for the style...balanced and drinkable. Medium-to-full in body. Nice.

A: Pours a deep reddish brown with a short whitish head, some noticeable lacing.

S: Mostly sweet malt, some caramel and toffee, not really a ton going on here.

T: Malty with very little hoppy character...some caramel, a bit of spice, but otherwise not a ton.

M: Light to medium bodied and clean with low carbonation and bitterness.

O: Meh, I don't drink the style often so I'm not the best judge but I didn't particularly care for this. Overly malty to me and doesn't really do much for me.

Pours a clear, dark brown/red color. 1/2 inch head of a white color. Great retention and great lacing. Smells of slight hop, sweet malt, slight dry hop, hint of pale malt, and a hint of spice. Fits the style of an Irish Red Ale. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with a low carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, hint of pale malt, hint of hop, slight caramel malt, and a hint of spice. Overall, good appearance and aroma, but the body is dominated by the malts so that the blend is overly sweet.

12oz can to IPA glass

A - Dark russet brown with a firm tan cap. Average retention with some clingy lacing.

S - Nutty grains, dark cocoa, dark toffee, pine hops, hints of citrus. Not sweet.

T - Follows the nose with a hefty toasted grain bill being front and center. Some metal notes when cold but fade as it warms. Earthy pine adds some edge to the burnt caramel malts. Nutty yeast, strong black tea, hints of orange, the malt is sweet but the hops and toasted notes really dry out the beer. A bitterness grows and finishes dry with tannins and roasted grain left on the palate.

M - Medium weight, smooth body, has a little heft for the style which is welcomed.

A solid little Irish red. I view this style as lackluster, and although this beer misses a few marks for the style it has some flavor and body that I typically don't get with Irish reds. Sante Fe has never wowed me but I continue to buy their beers because their priced right and I honestly haven't had a bad beer from them.
