Brewed every fall when the jalapeno and habanero peppers are available. This hot version of our Illegal Ale-ien is only on draft for our Brewery Anniversary and then at Three Tides until the keg kicks.

Taken from notes at the Pemaquid Mussel Festival.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden pale hue with a super, super thin wispy white head that left minimal lacing. Not too shabby for a chili style beer.

S - Aroma, average at best. Getting hardly any pepper on the nose. Actually, relatively disappointed with this.

T - Taste is infinitely better. Crisp, good paler/bready malts wash along the tongue before fruity and spicy peppers wash over the tongue. Its good, not fantastic, but pleasant. Good balance between chili and malt.

M - Mouthfeel is solid. Nice carbonation here. Definitely don't get any of that alcohol.

O - Overall, this wasnt a bad beer. The nose was incredibly weak though.

Digging through my notes, had this at the brewery during the Pemaquid Mussel Festival.

No head, but a nice golden pale malt color.

Nose has a bit of malts, hint of booze and very slight pepper.

Taste is also a bit malty, some bready malts to start, then gets quite hot, spicy, peppery, a light sweetness and crispness, with hint of booze.

Mouth is med bodied, tingly pepper, light booze, decent carb.

Overall interesting, definitely spicy pepper though not much on the nose.

Poured on-tap into a pint glass, the beer is a clear, vibrant, goldenrod color with no head. The nose is light, with a slight toasting. Not overly revealing to the nose. The taste, however, is amazing. Blast of pepper on the lateral and rear aspects of the tongue, with a burn down to the mid-throat. Wow! Would make a great black and tan with MW's Sexy Chaos. The aftertaste is all pepper and heat, with a clean and crisp finish. Heat and pepper stays with you a while, giving a very decent after-burn, so to speak. Linger longer! Great brew.

Had this at Novare during their Marshall Wharf tap takeover back in February. 20oz pour into my chalice

A: Dark orange color, slightly opaque. Not much head or lacing

S: Some malt, some bread. I had to really try to pick up any chili. Small nose

T: Starts with some sweet malt and a little citrus. Then the heat kicks in on the back of your throat. Ah, there it is. Lingers like after eating a hot pepper or those little cinnamon candies

M: Medium bodied. Brief tingle of the tongue from the carbonation. Spicey kick in the finish

D: Very interesting beer. Was shocked to see a Kolsh at 8.5%. Initially I thought the spice would be too much. But it blended nicely with the other flavors so I was able to tolerate it. Would definitely order this again
