Pours a hazy light orange with a two finger white head that sticks around for days. It smells delicious. Tangerine, orange, lemon, papaya, pineapple. The flavor is very juicy. Orange and tangerine. The mouthfeel is rather thick for an ipa this low

Poured into an imperial pint glass. I had heard this was an overlooked and underrated IPA.

Look - A hazy orange with a eggshell white head. Lacing is somewhat soapy and thin as it lines the glass

Smell - Swirling the glass produces a very fruity orange scent. After settling, the beer takes on a bitter pine scent.

Taste - The reason this is an overlooked IPA in my opinion. The taste starts off briefly tropical and swiftly turns into pine and grapefruit with some nuttiness from the malt.

Feel - Slick and thin. Somewhat creamy but not highly carbonated like a lot of west coast IPAs.

Overall - This is a very complete IPA - it's bitter citrus and pine yet balanced with malt and nuttiness. Whether you're a fan of hop bomb west coast IPAs or you're looking for an all around IPA like Bells Two Hearted Ale, Hanger 24 Betty IPA can go toe-to-toe with the big boys. Highly recommended. My only complaint is the lack of bottling dates. Best by or bottled on dates are crucial, especially for hop-heavy brews. What if someone who is finally getting into IPAs gets an oudated malt bomb that's been sitting on a shelf for far too long? What about IPA fans who want the freshest experience possible? Bottling dates are crucial, especially to IPAs. Regardless of the rant, this is a fantastic IPA that goes toe-to-toe with the likes of Two Hearted Ale.

Juiciest year round IPA I've come across in So Cal. The ratings are low because the west coast palette looks for different flavors than some other parts of the country. If you like juicy New England and Vermont style IPAs, this is a west coast version of that. There is still bitterness but the body is all orange hop juice. Very surprising from this brewery and very welcome.

Pour is a nice dark orange with two fingers of head.

Had this at Red Table in Huntington Beach after a terrible IPA to start the night off. I've never been impressed by any of Hangar's IPAs before, but this is an exception. Reminds me of Sculpin many years ago and Double Sunshine minus.

They just got the keg in so it was ridiculously fresh, but damn I was impressed. I'm going to buy a bottle to compare but this will definately get me thinking about this brewery in the IPA game. Didn't taste huge malt like the heavy backbone their IIPA has.

Great job, need to see more.

It is a pretty enjoyable IPA--there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. But it is a tough category with stiff competition and I don't think this one quite measures up. There are plenty of hops with moderate bitterness and a pretty average flavor profile, mostly grapefruit and pine and some tropicals coming through. Some malt to balance but not much. Feel is medium bodied, medium carbonation. Finishes pretty dry.
Hopheads won't quite be satisifed. On the other hand, people who value "balance" may find it too hoppy without enough malt to smooth it out.

A malty, hazy, hoppy American IPA. Pours a dark amber hue, hazy. Malt-forward IPA with great citrusy, tropical notes. Piney on the back end.

This is one of the most “grapefruit”/stone fruit centric IPAs I have ever known and loved. It smells fanstastic! Orange and lemon peel and zest with grapefruit and so on...

Taste doesn’t disappoint and follows suit. Dry finish. Classic West Coast...dry on the back end and loads of hop residue without being harsh or overly oily.

Solid and wish it was more readily available in cans for the beach and the poolside!

Update: more resinous and piney than I remember. Also a bit more staid and classic.

On tap at Newhall Refinery in Newhall, CA.

Pours a murky orange with a foamy bone head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy rings of lace line the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, citrus fruit, citrus zest, tropical fruit, and slight herbal hop aromas. Taste is much the same with citrus zest, pine, and herbal hop flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Having this beer on-tap at My Thai restaurant in Indian Wells, CA with my dad. Served in a standard pint glass, this beer is a clear, medium golden color with a nice white head that’s about an inch thick thick when first drawn and served. Settles eventually to a thick white ring lining the inside of the glass along with some small cluster swirls of surface foam follows by very nice lacing. Aromas of some bready malts with a bit of caramel sweetness and then some piney, earthy, floral hops. Of course, the flavor profile is quite similar, with some bready malts with a bit of caramel sweetness and then some piney, earthy, floral hops that have a bitterness that’s slightly dank and resinous. A very good flavor profile all around. Has a crisp, smooth, light to medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a nice, hoppy aftertaste.

Poured into a wine glass/snifter

A - Really lovely deep sunset orange, one finger off white head and some sugar legs

S - Right off the bat the resin, some roasted grains, pineapple, fresh water, brown/green earth, fresh cut pine, baking yeast, clean malt, sugar, orange/grapefruit and more citrus, huge hoppiness

T - Fresh Oregon noble Christmas tree, roasted malt/grain, blood orange, grapefruit, dank resin, pungent flowers, pineapple, mango, fresh mountain air, citrus hops, fresh laid sod

M - Medium body, refreshing carbonation, very nice balance, smooth complexity and a huge/long resin to sugary/malty goodness

D/O - Very refreshing, goes down smooth and each taste gets better and better. Doesn't get overly bitter as the IPA warms and would be thirst quenching on a hot day and belly warming on a cold night. I'd drink this one fresh and often. For the hop head and IPA novice alike

Final Thoughts - $7 is a bit on the pricey side -- especially when considering the 6.5 % ABV. However, a sixer may be a much better value as bombers are mostly a rip off.
