On tap at Whole Foods in Cupertino, CA. A very balanced DIPA with lovely malt backing and a full, swirling complement of explosive hop flavor. Impressed.

Growler pour. Looks like a double ipa meets amber ale, nice head, 1/2" white, growler held carbonation just right for about 100 hours. Aroma was leaning heavy on the orange.

Taste drops more orange, really a substantial and very noticeable amount in a style with a plethora of orange droppings, this one still leans heavy. Relatively light body, hides the alcohol very well at 10%, drinks effortlessly.
Some light pine notes accompany the citrus, this isn't massively bitter either, soft touches in a big beer.

Never heavy malt feel on the backend, stays light and citrusy at all times. Very well done.

Poured from 16oz tall can into a tulip.

Appearance: rich orange hue with just a touch of haze; head is three fingers of frothy, pillowy ivory foam with a good lace left on the glass and good retention. I dig it.

Smell: dank, herbal, earthy and sweet. The hop character is good but the sweetness is too heavy for my taste.

Taste: very herbal and earthy in nature, with more of that dank hop character. I like it, but as in the aroma, it is too sweet. It's mitigated a bit in the flavor by the hops (although this beer is not super bitter), so it's still a good-tasting brew.

Mouthfeel: medium-rich body with a decent level of carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: good hops, interesting flavor profile, but to sweet.

reviewing this beer after giving it a 2/5 when it was first released. I gotta say, I'm impressed.

A: Pours a classic West Coast IPA gold. Slightly off white head, about 2 fingers worth., that will dissipate fairly quickly.

S: Immediately grapefruit. Candy, like a pink or red starburst. Lemon. Mango. Canned pineapple. Canned peaches.

T: Very much like the smell. However, I will add that you can taste the malt. Very bready towards the backend.

M: First poured from the tap, it's very silky, smooth, light bodied, dry at the backend. Now here is where the dynamic of the beer changes, the temperature. As it warms up it becomes a completely different beer, very roasty, dry, a little heated, and sticky.

O: This beer is a fantastic DIPA. At 10% dont expect the normal betty. This is cave dwelling, beard growing, wood chopping beer, with a refinement. I feel like this can be better though, leave it unfiltered, and if unfiltered for distribution is not an option, maybe only in the brewery?

L - Fairly hazy, nice dark gold color. Not much head.
S - Good blend of grapefruity hops and bready malt
T - initially all grapefruit, orange and hops but sweet malt balances late in palate
M - Medium body but surprisingly dry astringent finish. Then some low sweetness in aftertaste. Moderate alcohol presence. Creamy carbonation.
O - Great balancing act between citrus, hops, malt and alcohol

beautiful golden amber with slight white foam dotted lacing. citrus smell. tropical fruit punch(the punch being its 10% ABV) I can definitely taste the alcohol to a fault or it'd be a 5 on taste. pleasant carbonation. Love that the malt sweetness balances the hops but oh that alcohol burn. Lower the ABV and this would be absolutely perfect for my taste.

Serving type: on tap at the brewery

Pours an opaque honey amber color. Smell is heavy tropical fruit, mango, pineapple, slightly catty, somewhat vegetal hoppiness, ample piney and dank scents as well. Taste is superior to the smell. Heavy pineapple and tropical fruit, somewhat heavy pine and dank tastes, moderate bitterness, along with a honey like sweetness. Initial fruit flavors flow into hops bitterness and dankness, finishes with a slightly bitter sweet taste that lingers for a while. Feel is thick and oily feeling, which fits with the juice like fruit flavors and the heavier pine flavors and scents. Overall this is a great imperial version of an already good IPA.
